Charles will bounce back. On a single lap, he is probably the fastest of all of them.

That said, for a 41-year-old Hamilton to be absolutely up there with a bunch of drivers mostly in their mid-20s is almost surreal at this level.

Makes too many silly mistakes though and we have yet to actually see him in a proper title fight to see how he copes, which I feel he may not cope that well, just seems a bit too fragile.

Leclerc might not tbh if he just proves unable to adapt to this gen of car handling characteristics similarly to hamilton with the previous ground effect cars.

I heard that as well. I decided to check but ran out of enthusiasm. What is patently obvious is he's on a scoring run.

It’s correct, he has had a good run the last 5 races (all season to be fair). The last 5 races points thing. It is due to the Mercs borking as much as his good driving though as both have had a retirement, and then each has had another problem to take them out of the points, Kimi’s Silverstone struggle session when he was on for the win, and George getting fake penalty in Monaco.
Based purely on his driving Kimi should have scored about 50 points more than Lewis over the last 5.

That's where he seems most comfortable and genuine, he's absolutely great with kids too.

The children need a grown up, someone used to high performance, to guide and discipline their fledgling efforts at race strategy and driver management

I'm sure he's not going to be surprised that his teammate (currently sharing P2 in WDC with a driver of the top car on the grid) is getting rehired!

Besides, when Lewis headed to Ferrari Charles said he was excited to learn from a seven time WDC. Although I fear he hasn't enjoyed any of the lessons so far...
