Apologies if this is already answered elsewhere in the F1 section guys, is Brundle only contracted for a set number of races these days or something? Is there a list of which ones or is he winding down towards retirement?
He’s normally missed a couple of races in recent seasons (think his contract is for 18 weekends, which was the season when he joined up), but seems to have been absent for half a dozen or so this year. Maybe he’s happy to wind down a little as the years pass - he’s 62 now, has had a long career as both a driver and commentator, is unlikely to need the money, and would prefer to spend his time on other things in life than racking up air miles and hotel points. Saw he was driving a 1975 RS Capri last week I think and an XJR10 or 11 at some historic race, he must have a ball getting to drive such beasts.

Thanks the 18 race per season thing ind of explains some of his absences, dread to think of the days when he hangs up his microphone.

IIRC he’s driven more F1 cars than anyone else, something over 60 different chassis, mostly thanks to the media work. Saw he was driving a 1975 RS Capri last week I think and an XJR10 or 11 at some historic race, he must have a ball getting to drive such beasts.
On his weekends away from F1 he’s usually been spotted driving something somewhere, he did one of the Nurburgring endurance races with his son last year, which is something every father would want to do.
I think he’ll slowly step back over a couple of years, to give the younger drivers a chance to improve themselves in commentary. He’ll leave a big hole in the sport when he finally hangs up the microphone.
The good news is that, from reading his Twitter, it seems he’ll be at all of the last six races.
Let’s hope the championship goes right to the wire, it’s been a while since that happened (and from a purely selfish view I’m going to the last race!).
I thought Danica Patrick was very good and spoke well. Her understanding of motorsport and passion for it, as well as clear understanding of the nature of competition/pressure for drivers, came through really well.
Compared to Di Resta (since someone did) I felt she was much better at providing context or explaining certain events. Much less of a tendency to judge or blame or compare. Much more eloquent, and her points had alogical structure (rather than starting off on one topic and ending on an entirely different one, as PdR does so often).

I thought she seemed pretty clueless about F1 altogether tbh. Compared to Di Resta (since someone did) I felt she was much better at providing context or explaining certain events. That was me and I disagree. I was actually surprised in view of her vast Motorsport experience how generic and formulaic her comments were, perhaps she was just drafted in last minute as a US 'face' to add to commentary but as mentioned above she clearly has very little understanding of F1 and it's intricacies, just a very superficial Max vs Lewis narrative. Her post Quali interviews were dire, no enthusiasm, no engagement whatsoever, absolutely flat. At least DiResta has driven F1 cars and can ask more than the most basic generic questions. Bring back Rosberg for an example of how it should be done!

She gave the impression that, having done US TV work previously, she’d been coached to talk at a certain level of technicality, for, let’s call them the NASCAR audience. F1 TV work requires talking to quite a different audience, and her usual style came across as uninformed to that very technical audience watching.
