PH let me answer you easily.
If Di resta was commentating on the race I could watch it, I cannot managed more than a few minutes of Croft before turning of.
it really is that simple I'm afraid, he is one of the worst sports commentators I have ever heard.
I disagree Di Resta is awful and a lot worse. If Di resta was commentating on the race I could watch it, I cannot managed more than a few minutes of Croft before turning of.

I don’t see the issue with Di Resta.
He’s an ex F1 driver who knows what he’s talking about.
I’d listen to him rather than the blare of some Fred Commentator who’d be equally at home presenting a quiz show.
Di Resta might know about f1 but he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, i find him a poor communicator and not very eloquent. If you listen closely his commentary is filled with non sequiturs. Frequently he makes fairly spurious claims and then doubles down on them when challenged by commentators before being shown to be wrong (e.g. by new footage/replays). There is rarely acknowledgement of the mistake from Di Resta. He’s an ex F1 driver who knows what he’s talking about.

Here’s on example. In a practice session on Baku, a driver (I don’t recall who, possibly Russel) span out the last (real) corner, onto the S/F straight. Rachel brookes said, ‘he’ll be heading straight for the pits, his tyres will be flat spotted and he’ll need a new set’. Di Resta, fairly dismissively: “Nah, they’ll be fine, reason 1/2/3”. 10 seconds later: driver pits. Di Resta: ‘He’s pitting, he obviously needs to change those tyres, they’ll be flat spotted’.

Di Resta, he looks miserable, he sounds miserable.
It may not be a popular opinion but I thought he was better at Baku than in the past. Maybe he's had some voice coaching -- at least it went up and down a bit rather than being a monotone. RichB said:

I don’t know how many people saw the F3 sprint race this morning, easily he most exciting race of the year so far, loads of overtakes, loads of near misses................and no shouting
Some people here don't like Alex Jacques https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...It's also scary how Alex Brundle sounds so much like Martin. If he starts coming out with stuff like "hug the apex like your favourite granny", it would be impossible to tell the difference
