Round 11 and we’re in Germany for the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. Not the 20km ring but the race circuit.

There will be up to 20,000 spectators

Rumours that Pirelli are bringing snow tyres are untrue, but the weather could through up some uncertainty.

Date(s): Friday 9th to Sunday 11th October 2020

UK Broadcast Timings

All sessions are live on Sky F1; race and qualifying highlights are shown on Channel 4:

Live timing for all sessions available here:

Weather forecast

Tyre options: To be added when published

2013 Race Result:Last seen in 2013 the lap times will have little relevance

Weather in the Eifel, what could possibly go wrong...

And just last weekend they lost nine hours of the 24 hour race to a red flag due to adverse weather.

Hamilton to use the ladies toilets by mistake, get four penalty points and a two race ban, that should spice it up a but.

Bottas would still bottle it though, let's be honest.

..suggests, for October, on average;

20 days of rain, so 2/3 chance on race day, pretty much "guaranteed" over the weekend.

Average high of 10 degrees, low of 5 degrees - cold tearing of tyres is going to be a problem, IF it stays dry, let alone getting them to temp.

Vaud, it would be helpful if you'd let me know you were putting the thread up, I've just spent 20 mins doing it.

Anyway, Channel 4 times here for those without Sky:

Apologies. I didn't know that it was your intent to post for all of 2020... I've posted in previous seasons as have others. I will bow out for the rest of the season.

If Lewis does get another weird penalty I may have to start believing the conspiracy theorists..

Indeed, red flag if a tear off visor strip lands on the track these days!

In both April and October, the bookends of the trackday season really I've seen days cancelled for snow before. I've seen beautiful dry days too but lots where the track was covered in large sections by frost/ice.

No idea what salt does to F1 car's tyres but Cups don't like it, it eats them alive!

Obviously the Nordschleife is more affected by this due to the trees but it looks cold and damp this weekend rather than frosty, lows of 6 degrees over the weekend.

I do think we could get a wet one though.

Turn 7 to 15 should be flat, perhaps a slight lift at turn 11.. (rubs hands).. it’s just a shame it’s not accompanied by a howling v12..

VB for the win here.. he’s the most competent driver in low grip conditions..

That would appear to be a bold assertion.

For those not following the wider F1 forum, this weekend may be dominated by the news that Honda are quitting at the end of 2021.

Why, he thrives in those conditions, tracks such as Melbourne, Baku, USA, Mexico, Abu Dhabi, Austria he always performs well..

High grip tracks such as Silverstone, Spa, Barcelona, he has traditionally struggled at.

Turned up at Blyton in March last year to a thinly snow covered track. Organisers got everyone in the briefing room and waited out a while to see if sun would burn off but it wasnt happening. Took a vote and cancelled the day and refunded.

Funnily enough there were a bunch of lads who had turned up in Imprezas, they were quite keen to go ahead in the snow, the guys in MX-5s and Caterhams less so!
