Anything better than a Hypnos Premier inn mattress?

As the title really, its for my mate, he is convinced that its one of the best mattresses you can get but if he wants it by Christmas he needs to order it by tomorrow.

The cheapest king size is £750 in the Hypnos range. Am I right in thinking the premier inn is a model in the hypnos range in the same as the walters and hanson names are. If the premier inn matress is only £500 or so then it does actually seem like decent value for money, I've slept on a few over the last year or so and they seem decent but much like any other mattress to me.

I got a John Ryan a year ago and am very pleased with it. It’s a heavy old thing but so comfortable - and gives me an excellent night’s sleep.I did try the Hypnos and others, but didn’t want one with any kind of foam top layer.

I’ve got an artisan naturals in super king, had it for two years and it’s the best mattress I’ve ever slept on. When this one wears out, then I will replace it with another John Ryan mattress without question.Scantily said:

Thats £1500 or so though, 3 times the price of the hypnos one. The cheapest John Ryan ones seem to start at about £500, will they just be naff though.
I have recently bought the cheapest John Ryan Double Mattress its brilliant £505 delivered (4week wait), went from some orthopedic piece of bedrock to a supersoft and very comfortable bed no aches or pains since, the mattress is very thick/deep 11", put a matteress topper on as well which is recommended practice from John Ryans website https://johnryanbydesign.co.uk/product/origins-com...Edited by souper on Thursday 22 October 20:41
We've got the Travelodge one. As much as I'm sure a more expensive mattress is lovely the thing that made up our mind was that we'd spent several nights sleeping in Travelodge so we knew we got on with it. Not just a quick lay down in a showroom. I would imagine it should be durable and last pretty well, given it's also used in hotels.
Went to dreams last week, tried their "dream match " gizmo that identified what type of mattress we needed, firm apparently, tried a few, but for the life of me, how you can tell its going to be a comfortable nights sleep after laying on it for a minute or so, ill never know.
Selected our choice at just under 1k, pocket sprung with built in topper , delivered two day's ago, and so far its horrible, granted I'm on nights currently, and not in the best situation for a good sleep, but its worse than before.
Thirty days to get used to it, or its being exchanged, for what I've no idea.

It depends whether you put any credence or value on Which? magazine tests, I suppose. I do, as it happens.
They only tested one Hypnos mattress which they gave 53%, and it cost lots. I realise that isn't the Premier Inn model. They gave the Ikea Hovag 70% and that cost £180.
I suppose you pays yer money and takes yer choice - or something.
I think I know what I would do.
