Only if the team collapses entirely. He's as secure as Stroll, otherwise.

Marzipan wink is the new Maldonado? Does this mean he'll get his own "the last time Marzipan crashed was..." website?

Yes, because his dad's paying for him to be there! Although if this carries on I suppose it's possible even daddy will get embarrassed and call an early end to the stshow.

I actually feel sorry for Steiner. Sure, the Haas project was already not really working out, but now he's ended up presiding over two cars that are absolutely hopeless and one being driven by a driver that can't.

I hope that Netflix captured Guenther's reactions to his drivers' "performances" for Season 4.

They appear to have last years car, with bits cut out of it to make it comply with this years regs, with the consequent loss of downforce, and a more powerful Ferrari engine.

Must be a nightmare. No wonder both drivers spun. All credit to Schumacher for keeping it on the island for the rest of the race, and that's probably a reflection of his abilities. Mazepin however, is I think in for a world of pain.

I wonder what "Rich Energy" clauses there are in the sponsorship contract. Father might quickly decide to cut his losses mid season.

What a debut! Should have stuck with Grosjean laugh

Haas already looking even more hopeless this year without drivers that can't drive!

They can drive, neither are slouches but the car is a dog.

I wouldn't have said that his performance in F2 was strong enough to normally lead to an F1 seat.

To be fair we haven't seen enough of him to judge just yet, but perhaps in a few races time we'll be able to say that in F1 terms, he actually is a slouch. Compared to the recent rookie talent that we've seen enter F1 I don't rate him personally..

Sure they are better drivers than your average.

But both only have those seats because financially the team needed them to sit there to survive the year. They are not there for their driving talent, they are just income. (Which is fine and how it's always been for small teams).

Schumacher is there too soon, but getting a years experience sitting in a F1 car shouldn't hurt. Mazepin...well...he needs daddy to stay rich.

Is anyone giving odds on him taking out a leading car while being lapped ?

I think Mazespin is the unpleasant mix of Raghunathan's talent and Ticktum's attitude with a splash of slightly-shady Russian cash. I doubt we'll even be half way though the season before Gene Haas has managed to extricate himself from this situation.
