I think if a penalty doesn’t affect you then it should certainly be a pitlane start - or what’s the point of investigating at all?

Another week, another penalty point.

Plus a three place grid penalty.
What was the penalty for?
Holding up Norris in Q1, the other cars in the bunch got out of the way, he stayed on the racing line with Norris behind him.
Not quite, the other cars ahead of him were queuing up for their laps, he decided (again) to jump the que and by doing so took the racing line which impeded Norris.

The FIA took away Yuji Ide’s superlicence in 2006 for being out of his depth in F1. Can’t they do the same to this muppet?

I imagine they're a tad worried that doing that would cause the collapse of team Haas, and leave the grid short of two cars.

Cynical perhaps... But it is F1..

As long as he is within 107% and doesn't cause too many crashes with others, there is no way the FIA will take his licence from him.

He was within about 3.5mm of taking out the leader last week, so interesting to see how many lives he gets unless he improves. Does he have a driving mentor? Not like his teammate is an old hand.
Trouble for him is that he is probably now feeling the pressure, driving nervous, trying really hard not to mess up. Along with his inexperience that’s a dangerous combination.

I don't think mazapin is that bad, Yuji ide qualified 3 seconds behind his teammate. At least mazepin keeps it around a second

Don't forget it's Monaco next....how many times do we think he'll end up in the barriers over the course of the weekend?!

That could play havoc for qualifying

Nah, I dont think he'll make it as far as quali...

1. He'll bin it straight away in FP1
2. Haas will rebuild his car overnight
3. He'll bin it again during FP3
4. Car wont be ready for qualifying
5. Start the race from the pit lane
6. Bin it on lap 2 causing a red flag!

Mark my words! haha

no, the two cars that passed him were on an in-lap.

I understand HAAS are currently looking into converting the car to a part submarine just in case...............

But I suspect (hope to be proved wrong) that he will hit the barriers so many times they won't have enough spare parts to run the car in the race...

Just for a bit of balance:

His last race at Monaco, 2019 F2, was his only double points finish of that year.

I don’t think he is a terrible driver, I think he is over driving an unpredictable car.

He’s no Lewis but nor is he Taki Inoue.

But he's binned it more often than his (also rookie) team mate whilst going more slowly confused

Can we blame the thoughtless driving on the unpredictable car too..?

I see a crash with whoever is lapping him. He's had a few close calls with cars coming past. Monaco there's no space and the tunnel is a passing place so... I will not be surprised to see something like a Haas and Red Bull go into the tunnel, followed by a lot of scrap F1 parts coming out the other end.

So Lewis’ tactic should be to run 2nd in the race, on the basis that Max will be first to lap Mazepin, and therefore most likely to be taken out. smile

Alonso and Ralph's coming together at the tunnel in 2004. Knew then Alonso had class (before his first championship), giving the expressive finger to Ralph whilst still crashing.

I'm willing to give rookies a half season at least.
