Watching F1 on TV

Has anyone tried Go5050?
https://go5050.co.uk/
It's a service where you sign up, and they organise group purchases of multi-person plans. You pick the service you want then share the cost with other people, so you get a real account but split the price between you.
Somebody at work uses it for various things, and said NowTV is on there for about £15 p/m at the moment. They've been using it for a while and said it works great, but there's not a whole lot of info online so it'd be good to hear from anyone who's tried it.

Seems a very dodgy site - none of the menu options (like the about us page) seem to work.https://go5050.co.uk/

Also run the risk of the Now account being terminated for sharing - the T&C say
"You must not let anyone outside your household access the service using your account or login details."
Just get F1TV via a dedicated VPN IP address, so it doesn't end up on any IP block lists.
All this talk of Sky 'good deals' is flawed, because Sky simply isn't as good in the first place, whatever the ££!
For anyone interested F1Tv pro is £60pa unless you can grab a deal, and a dedicated IP VPN is about £9pm, including the base VPN package - which is useful in general to watch geo-restricted content, not just F1TV.
I work out the total cost to £14pm, or £7 per GP weekend. That's worth it for me, even if half the 'sport' is more of a shoe these days...

Because they want to simply watch it on their big 4k TVs in the comfort of their sitting rooms. Which they can only do if they buy an AppleTV 4K for £149 or Roku 4K stick for £49 and all the faffing around to setup the VPN and setup accounts and the apps with them, plus they have all the additional Sky channels that come with the deal. All this talk of Sky 'good deals' is flawed, because Sky simply isn't as good in the first place, whatever the ££!

I think you're probably right about the plug and play factor for watching on the main TV. I'm a bit different to that as I typically watch on my phone/laptop if at work, or PC monitor if at home - which allows me to argue with others on the race thread on here via the other monitor

It can't just be me though, the comments made on the race threads reveal that a significant number of other members are happily watching on F1TV these days.
Sorry, but a bit of tosh being said here…
F1TV is not legit in the UK, you have to use a VPN. You’re circumventing the rules of F1 in the UK. Some people won’t want to do that, so go with a legit method.
My VPN is $19/year and I can always get a country that works.
My smartTV (a cheapo £500 one) has the apps, no additional hardware purchases required. I open VPN, connect, swap to the F1TV app and I’m away. It also works on my iPad or iPhone. It’s not complex
The only downside is no 4K, but I would assume that’ll come soon, even if an additional charge.

It's definitely a grey area, but it's not illegal to buy F1TV pro access if it's offered, and it's not illegal to use a VPN. Legality aside, it is technically against the TOC agreement with the F1TV service to watch it in the UK, which doesn't mean you're breaking a law if you do so... but it does legally hand them the power to ban you from the service if detected. That assumes they're interested in exercising that power of course... F1TV is not legit in the UK, you have to use a VPN. You’re circumventing the rules of F1 in the UK. The biggest legal problem (if there was ever a claim made) would be that F1TV have sold exclusive UK rights to Sky but then sell access to the service via other platforms (itunes, google play etc) that are 'geo-blind' and allow purchase in the UK, and then viewing in the UK via a simple VPN. There is much more F1TV could be doing to prevent access in areas where they have sold exclusive rights to a third party, but all these years later I would say they're doing the bare minimum and continue to leave the door wide open. That's interesting, but it doesn't affect me directly and it doesn't make anyone who has access a criminal - albeit they are technically breaching the TOC agreement with F1TV as I said.

Fair, non legit maybe a better way to say it. Some people are very strait laced and don’t want to bend any rules
ERA: that’s what I said before
I didn’t say illegal. Oh well.
I would say non legit is the same as saying illegal, although I'm aware 'legit' is used somewhat more casually in many cases.ERA: that’s what I said before

You're right there are definitely a lot of straight laced people that won't want to do anything that even feels like it might be a tiny but shady... The problem is that the Sky price is so high and the service itself somewhat limited, that there are probably even more people put off by those things. Most of those put off still won't bother to get F1TV working, they'll just largely detach from F1 and maybe watch the highlights on C4 every now and again.
On this forum however, us nerdy hardcore fans actually want to watch and it's no surprise that so many now watch via F1TV

Does anyone have the Sky streaming service - the one with the thing you shove in the back of the TV?
My question is can you catch up with all the GPs or do these fall of the schedule, if they are ever on it. All I want to do is watch them when I sit down for my dinner on a Sunday evening.

I've got a £19.99 a month for 12vmonths deal from now tv. Valid till Monday to redeem.
I'm umming and awwing as its another £20 a month on the month our mortgage has gone up £100pm after our current 5 year deal ended.
I got 6 months at £15 with the UHD boost thing for half price at £3 pm. I really begrudge paying for the boost, HD at least should be included imo. Watching the race in SD on a big telly would be torture for me.I'm umming and awwing as its another £20 a month on the month our mortgage has gone up £100pm after our current 5 year deal ended.
