I have no issue with repeating myself, I simply read a bit more and find it yet more staggering lol! I couldn't care less what people think, it is a forum for peoples opinions, so you have to expect on this page a huge swath of fandom, but also the naysayers, I am one of those.

I love a lot of things about F1, but attending races is something I only did very briefly, and even then only qualifying as the sheer expense of attending races was the same cost as a holiday, not quite the same as standing on aggregate for 8 hours watching some drab identikit formula racing and a single make thing, a few air displays (having lived near Scampton this was also drab sorry) queueing for hours, insane food and drink prices meaning I had to drag it all around with me, annoying people everywhere, no atmosphere (I was there in the good times aswell)

To be fair the best bit was people watching, the matching clothing couples, and the awful attire people wore, the wannabe drivers the people trying to get on telly, the drivel coming out of peoples mouths, the incessant cheering every time anyone British drove past even on an in lap.

I guess as I say I am built differently to the majority, I feel for them I really do, but I guess someone has to make money out of this, and that means someone has to hand a bunch of it over.

I get the impression that F1 isn't really for you, Luke.

We’re going to Silverstone in July..... on the 30th for the classic.... Motorsport heaven. Mingling around the paddock with all those DFVs etc

Also, it’s worth pointing out you can’t watch a premier league match (featuring one of the big teams) for anything like £40 as is often the cited example, unless you have a season ticket and to get one of those is an exercise in patience and spending in previous seasons. Ordinary punters who fancy a day at Old Trafford will need to find at least £200, or the equivalent of a weekend F1 general admission ticket to see 90 minutes of football.

Just heard I'm going to the GP as a guest, with full corporate! I've had worse days.

Comparing sports is not really fair though.

Some are events like Wimbledon, a Test at Lords, Olympics, I do not think F1 at Silverstone is, but apparently it probably is. I can imagine if you are staying in a plush hotel, and in and out the Wing every day it might feel like Lords, Twickers or Wimbledon.

The only people I know who have been recently are corporate, not punters.

I was lucky I guess, I went I think every Friday or Sat from 89 until about 96. Then it just got too dear even then so one day there was the same as 3 or 4 elsewhere watching world level racing of a similar or better quality, with better supports.

Luckily I got to see the Senna's Prost's, Mansell's and also BTCC as support, F3, so consider myself fortunate to have at least enjoyed some F1 stuff there, nothing beat the sounds of queuing at 8am on a Friday trying to work out who was trying to pre qualify while you were on the A43.

Bloody place

They were the days. Remember seeing Mansell in race in 1988 with the passive FW12- great fun

I was there that day, arrived in a helicopter, and sat at Stowe. Rained hard all day, brilliant drive from Nigel.

Booked my ticket today, I am going to be watching from the Vale grandstand, hopefully will have a good view of the exit of Stowe and the entry into Club. Also got a great deal on an Airbnb about 9 miles south of the circuit.

Schedule change for Friday and Saturday.

"F1 has announced that qualifying for the sport's first ever Sprint Qualifying will take place in the evening.

FP1 will take place between 14:30 and 15:30 on Friday 16 July, with qualifying taking place between 18:00 and 19:00.

FP2 will take place on Saturday between 12:00 and 13:00, while the first ever Sprint Qualifying 'race' will get underway at 16:30.

The British Grand Prix will get underway at 15:00 on Sunday 18 July.

The schedule change is obviously to accommodate the fact that adopting the usual session timings would mean that those people working on Friday, or at school, would miss the qualifying session.

"Sprint Qualifying will be run over 100km and lasting around 25-30 minutes," confirmed Formula One Management, according to the sport's official website. "It is designed to provide a short and fast-paced racing spectacle - similar to a Twenty20 cricket match - with drivers racing flat-out from start to finish without the need to pit.

"Points will be awarded to the top three finishers, three for the winner down to one point for third."

In a bid to preserve the importance and exclusivity of the Grand Prix, there will be no podium ceremony following the Sprint Qualifying.

However the winner will be presented with a trophy in Parc Ferme, similar manner to the tyre the pole-sitter is currently awarded by Pirelli after qualifying.

As previously reported, the finishing order of the Sprint Qualifying event will define the grid for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

Does anyone know if this change to the schedule will mean the roaming grandstand option will not be available on the Saturday for grandstand ticket holders?

Squeaky bum time with the widely expected 4 week delay to easing of restrictions likely to be announced on Monday. That would see things lifted 8 hours after the end of the British GP.

Well into what-if territory here but I wonder if they could negotiate a test event exemption with full spectator testing prior to the weekend.

How about we just ignore this corrupt inbred self serving Govt and get on with our lives?

Has anyone received their e-tickets yet? Last correspondence I had said they were sending the e-tickets in the first week of June but I've had nothing yet.
