Thanks Deesee. I'm amazed that Bottas hasn't has to swap any ICE or electronic bits after that shunt.
I think with Bottas we will see a change in components this weekend, they have said the existing components are salvageable, I don’t think they will take the risk of not running a session..The track was pretty green last time, and it’s a bugger to drive, everyone will want plenty of track time.

Prize money difference from 8 to 10th place is nearer to £5m than £25m, otherwise you'd see the smaller teams still pushing development this year.
Granted, but it’s a decent car this year for Williams, they could push Alpine for 7th seeing as it’s pretty much a 2 yr old car now, a sensible approach could pay dividends for them. They can’t afford to throw points away..Piginapoke said:

Very true. And Ferrari are the darlings of F1 too, able to get away with murder - or worse (in racing terms), using extra fuel in a fuel limited race.
All of this would normally be very distressing in the modern world of corporate accountability and equality.. But thankfully Ferrari are so feckless these days that they can't convert any of their special treatment in to a title. Bless em.
Just a small point Deuce; Ferrari was never accused of having more fuel in the car than it was allowed to have (110kg), it was accused of having more fuel in the car than it had declared. The extra fuel is believed to have flowed through the fuel flow sensor on overrun and and then be stored, ready for the next application of the throttle. Pretty clever if you ask me.All of this would normally be very distressing in the modern world of corporate accountability and equality.. But thankfully Ferrari are so feckless these days that they can't convert any of their special treatment in to a title. Bless em.
Although the overrun and somehow storing fuel theory is way more complex than what they were actually doing (not confirmed of course) - and is a theory that I think came about largely due to what they actually doing bring poorly explained by the press.
Either way, more fuel used than the FIA data would suggest for the run, so they had to put extra in at the start.

It’s going to be interesting to observe if Mercedes and Williams introduce anything new today, after that huge shunt. Quite impressive if they’ve managed to salvage everything they needed, from those 300km/h wrecks. The track was pretty green last time, and it’s a bugger to drive, everyone will want plenty of track time.
Merc and Red Bull, if they’re going to be as close as they are now all season, will need to think carefully about how they introduce new PU components as the season progresses. I’m definitely expecting RB to take one extra engine at some point, starting from the back somewhere where they don’t expect to win but it’s relatively easy to overtake, so as to minimise the loss.

How do you test a wing mirror? Surely he can look into it in the pits. I mean, it's not as if he ever uses one.
The mirror and its support are part of the aerodynamics. They will have moved it slightly or changed its support to have a specific aero effect that will need to be tested.thegreenhell said:
Another track where track limits are going to be annoying.
Yes, not the white line at this track but the outside edge of the kerbs, and times will only be deleted for transgressions out side that.T15 has it's own (stupid) rule as no kerb;
"The exit of Galp, the long downhill right-hander turn 15 which ends the lap, is also being policed. The quick corner has an extensive run-off area. According to the race director’s event notes, “a driver will be judged to have left the track if no part of the car remains in contact with the track” there."...presumably meaning outside the white line, so why not say that?

Ferrari are to Italy what Real Madrid and Barcelona are to Spain and corruption to Boris Johnson. There is too much emotionally invested in them for actual rules to apply.

Almost.

Still about 2 seconds off FP1 time from last season, and the track is supposedly in better condition now. The cars aren't that much slower than last season, any theories as to why so far from the pace?
Doesn't matter what the real reason is, everyone will say "tyres".After all Mercedes and Bottas have both said his shoddy Imola performance was down to "100% tyres".........so 0% Bottas's fault he was so slow.
