Yeah it was alright on the night, but he out-Kvyat'd Kvyat and the incident knocked Lewis from great Pole with great pace and a great start to back of the grid and a multi-lap war with Fernando. What should have been a good day at the office turned into a total mission.

Also as said- when has Bottas ever held anyone up for multiple laps like that (although Hungary helped)... maybe they should put Alonso in that second Merc. He looks like he'd be a good wingman. scratchchin

Bottas has just placed 2nd in a Colorado bicycle race. As one of the top comments states, he averaged 19.4mph over gravel for 3 hours. Impressive stuff.

For anyone who still doesn’t think modern F1 drivers have to be genuine athletes. Well done Valtteri.

Great result assuming one L. Hamilton didn’t come first hehe

Yes, I know the joke has been done on Reddit but it was the first thing that came to mind…

Way off his PB on gravel, though. That is 120mph at Imola.

Made me laugh. I’m not on Reddit, so thanks for repeating it.

I thought everyone understood they were serious athletes? I mean, didn't Button do Iron Man/Triathlons etc "for fun" etc and still do rather well......

Wow. On the flat on my steel 3 gear road bike over about an hour I am below that avg speed albeit I am 30 years older :-)

Exactly - if she was in front he'd have had extra motivation.

But Muzzer is super sensitive to anyone even possibly criticising Bottas so presumably thought I was implying that he was slower than a (professional cyclist) girl, instead of me making a joke about why he rode so fast for so long.

I can manage that speed on an exercise bike but not for long. I consider a 27kmh average over an hour good biglaugh

The people that don't think F1 drivers are athletes are probably pub wkers that think hitting the punch machine is exercise.

I was asking what you meant as it wasn't clear.

Seems Bottas may be off to Alfa, surprising that his experience is transferring from the Mercedes realm to that of Ferrari. I was expecting him to go to Williams.

For all my doubt about his suitability as Hamiltons team mate, he is a proven winner and has a huge amount of experience of how a championship winning team operates.

I'm interested to see where he ends up, but i have to say, it makes more sense to me to see him in the upwardly moving Williams Mercedes team.

Yes quite. I said the same on another thread. Can’t see Alfa ever winning anything. Williams, however, just might.

I’m guessing that’s a rumour a bit like how Mercedes we’re going to announce Russell at Silverstone, etc.

.
A cynic might suggest that Ferrari want to know how Mercedes operate and more about the engine..... Sooooooo one way to get that information...

But I must confess I will still be surprised if he doesn't end up in the Williams next season.

Surely Bottas has had his chance in the best car, with all the new talent queueing up why does he deserve a seat at all?
