Excluding retirements (two a piece) he has finished a total of 12 places higher than Latifi so far this season. He finished 16 seconds (and 6 places) up the road from his teammate yesterday in the first race I can remember for a long time where it was a completely level playing field (no yellow flags, no retirements, and that was despite dropping behind him from the start.
If if have the time I grab the net mean time per lap, every lap raced. He was down..
Anyway let’s let him drive a good car eh?

Erm quicker than Tsunoda per lap on average in a far inferior car. When has Latifi come anywhere close to that? He was down..

Mercedes debrief
Always quite interesting though I think it has really just confirmed everything that we'd assumed. The more I think about Merc's strategy in this race, the more I think they were probably doomed to defeat regardless. Red Bull had set up for straight line speed which meant they could overtake the Mercs as long as they could stay close enough. Mercs did not have the same ability if they had to overtake one of the RB's on track. By Red Bull splitting their strategy they made the two stopper for Merc massively risky as they'd have to pass Perez regardless of what Max did. They could have pitted Lewis and left VB out but Max was always likely to be able to pass VB because of the straight line speed advantage (in hindsight VB practically waved him past). I think they actually went with the sensible option under the circumstances. It was probably the option that was most likely to get them a win even if it didn't work out in the end. Their only error probably being not pitting Lewis1 lap earlier and therefore maintaining track position. But as things panned out, I'm not sure that mattered. Max could have still run the same strategy from second place and the outcome would likely have been the same.
I know everyone is on his back at the moment but I do think Bottas is causing Merc a headache. His pace is similar or better than Perez but they cannot rely on him for any kind of strategic defence or attack. He just doesn't seem to have anything like the tenacity of Perez. I think it's giving Red Bull options that Merc just don't have at the moment.
