I have a ton of sympathy for Masi, safety is his paramount concern, and he does that well.
So how come it took him so long to get the safety car out after Tsunoda scattered vast quantities of carbon fibre all over turn 1?

If he got the safety car out every time a bit of carbon fibre went flying, we'd never have any racing at the start of a race.

Could have been waiting to hear from the drivers when they went through to see if it was mostly off line.

I'd be more concerned about his delay on getting the safety car/red flag out when Stroll crashed in Baku. Or at least start cracking down on drivers ignoring yellow flags.

He's got a tough job, people forget that even Charlie Whiting made some mistakes.

I can’t believe this guy. The arrogance of it! Totally unfit for the job and has to go.

Quite.
If a fairly high percentage of the drivers - and ex drivers! - say it isn't clear, then it isn't bloody clear.
I thought his quotes were a parody at first... what an arrogant ass. His lies just make things worse.

Nah, keep MM - I love his acerbic put-downs of Jonathan Whingey, Christian's weasel lapdog...

it's quite clear he doesn't understand what 'racing' is/ isn't ...which started back in '19 when he pretty much outlawed the driver ahead & on the racing line being able to defend the corner exit

I'd just get Masi to focus on his direction role & take stewarding decisions out of his hands by having a permanent chief steward sat beside him who decides what goes to the other stewards for further investigation

so a full time ex driver, who should be impartial (the difficult bit) who attends every race, so both drivers & fans get the consistency they're asking for

Short memories. Charlie used to get an enormous amount of stick too. A job requiring a thick skin.

A 1.5 page from 13 years ago doesn't mean Masi is fit for the job.

The one big problem with calls for Masi to be replaced, is who to replace him with..? He's the most experienced and most suitably trained person on the planet.

Problem two: If he was replaced, why would we think his replacement is going to be any less influenced by the powers that be in terms of maintaining 'the show'? (Assuming we believe that does happen to an extent).

Another ridiculous decision from Masi today, only having part of the circuit covered by the slow speed rule and not having that in the most likely area to cause problems. Mazepin and Lewis both dodged a biggie.

I thought he explained it very well. The lights the Marshall points anf the rules

As an F1 fan who isn’t interested in the fortunes of one single team over everything else I think it’s a shame that some people need to complain about everything.

I expect this thread to be busy now lol.

Whatever the situation, it has most definitely been precipitated by the officials.

Any of the usual major series race controllers would be better than this clown. Today was a new low, so much lower than i thought he could fall.

It seemed like they were making rules up as they went along today.
