Hi all, I'm away for a few days so thought I'd get the thread up early.

Round 5 and we’re in Miami. A new experience for everyone, it’s a fast street circuit with a predicted average speed of nearly 140mph, so quick enough. Some commentators think it will be a Red Bull circuit as it’s fast, so perhaps another Max win? There are no DRS zones shown on the circuit map yet, don’t know why.

Ricciardo always seems to go well in the USA, and he badly needs a good race (again). Surely Sainz must be due some good luck, and Hamilton will be keen to show he’s still Number 1 at Mercedes.

Thanks Piginapoke...

Someone eloquently stated that it was the "slots, sluts and skid marks" that he always enjoys... Each to their own!

Thanks pig

Voted for max on the basis it's a new circuit and Ferrari will probably make a complete hash of it one way or another.

Looking forward to this one only because it's a new circuit and it's bound to create drama as all new circuits do. Beyond that, it looks a bit turd to me!

I think Ferrari will go well here. Looking forward to it although a shame that it's been basically impossible to get grandstand tickets for a reasonable price.

Merc and Lewis has some up updates...round tyres I believe.

I cannot imagine the RBR being beaten around here. They were 1.1 secs faster in Imola and appeared lighter on tyres.

Looking forward to the challenge of a new circuit, but it does look rather boring.

What was the issue with the tickets? Not enough grandstands, or they all got bought up by the Miami Mafia for resale?

I see the Red Ball official wife beating team are having another moment with the childish quotes, on social media.

I was on all the lists for tickets and was ready as soon as they were released…on each release however nothing was available to a pleb like me through official channels. Everything was secondary market at $2,500 was the cheapest grandstand ticket I could find. That being said, I looked yesterday and the cheapest grandstand ticket is now $990. I wonder if I’ll be able to find one for sale for a lot less after qualifying?

My best mate is there for the weekend, he and his Mrs paid about $700 each for their tickets, I think, but that was when they were first released.

When does the build up for this weekend start? I'm guessing local networks will be all over it on Thursday when the drivers arrive?

I'm sure it'll be hyped 'because America'.

Looks like there's two decent enough straights for overtaking, one with a left right after it, so some potential front wing loss there, and another with a double left right, presumably the one where you make the pass stick.
Looks like a tricky uphill off camber chicane with bouncy kerbs on the inside to unsettle the cars as well.
They'll have to be careful not to overegg the DRS in my opinion.
Start times - I'm thinking can I stay awake if its a bit of a procession.......

Really hope they get the DRS right, wonder if they haven’t put he jones on the map yet because they want to see the cars run in FP1 first?

Love the timings for this one, hopefully no toddler interruptions, coffee needed though for the race!

If the car can get to the end of the race, Max wins (unfortunately).

Bit of a side bar question but why is Miami scheduled here in the calendar? Wedged between two European weekends, why fly the whole circus out to America and back?

That's the big if.

If Red Bull and Honda, sorry, red bull powertrains have sorted all their issues then this season is going to be a walk in the park for them.

Wasn't Imola meant to be China?
