With China relaxing Covid restrictions could the Chinese GP still make return on the 2023 calendar? Asking for a friend.
Given what is about to happen to China in the next 4 months, no chance.

Wondering how long Mohammad Ben Sulayem can last at the FIA. Seems to be clanger after clanger from him.

Or to Sauber…? Seems like a natural move.

Says for retirement, which he postponed to build Williams for Dorilton.

But if he's around he may be filling Ross Brawn's shoes at the FIA more than a team principle role.

Interesting line in the announcement.

"We’re grateful that Jost postponed his planned retirement to take on this challenge"

Maybe he's just decided that he wants to retire before the season gets any longer.

Not sure what they've done to deserve that

To be fair he was a pretty successful Technical Director (and Williams need one of those too), and even as a Team Principal he managed a steady progression towards the front. Second in both championships might be a sackable offence at Ferrari - but I think if you offered that to Williams they'd be biting your hand off so quick you wouldn't see them move!

I believe he’s on gardening leave until around summer - but possibly longer.

That sounds a little dramatic

Not really. Look at the vaccination levels (esp of elderly) and the type of vaccinations used. China is going to go through hell in the next 4 months.

It’s got to be Brixworth or Viry (or Audi/Hyundai 2026?) this is a very accomplished PU lead engineer, regardless of his backing then subsequent fallout with Charl as TP, any engine manufacturer not picking him up is frankly an own goal.

Porsche/Audi would be very foolish to let him go somewhere else while they're developing their Engine, even if it's just a consultancy role.
