Naomi Schiff is a weak pundit, along with Danica Patrick. Both seem eager to have their say but little in substance.

On the otherhand Jamie Chadwick has been great on 5Live. She makes points that only race drivers would know even if her experience isn't at top international level. At Imola last year she said that she could tell by the way Russell was driving he was about to pit.
I find Danica a great addition, a female driver that raced at a high level for years and did well. She wasn't Lewis Hamilton, but she had a very respectable career and worked with some top engineers in very quick racing cars.

I thought Naomi was OK at first, but she talks nonsense a lot and adds nothing for me, she likes throwing in the "as a racing driver" line a lot, which she really wasn't, she was playing at it compared to the pro's she is talking to/about.

If she stuck to facts, rather than making stuff up when she doesn't know, she could improve. She jumps in to questions put to someone else too often too, i dont know how Rosberg kept a straight face this weekend.

I hope she improves, because it's clear she is going nowhere. Rachel Brooks is the one that needs more screen time, she is very good at her job. Pinks i just find dull, but then i'm not interested in fashion or false eyelashes. biggrin
Danica is a strange on for me. She should be a great addition with her experience but…. From what I’ve seen of her on Sky, I expected way more from her. Her questions to drivers post race and contribution to the conversations, as a racer herself, I found disappointing. Apart from that, that’s she’s easy on the eye and I’m not fussed enough to wish her gone.

Danica comes across as someone who only ever watches F1 when she’s going to be working there, and spends the week beforehand binge-watching the last half-dozen races. She doesn’t have the level of detail that would be expected from someone following the season closely.

Fantastic pundit for the Indy 500 though.

I’ll quote a few verses of a poem to make my point, not just to you but to those that find it hard to accept this young woman on the tv’s:

… Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
’Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
Weakened by my soulful cries?

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
’Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own backyard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?….”

Still I Rise - Maya Angelou

Absolutely Bonkers….

So everyone can criticise Button, Di Resta etc but as soon as the female ‘pundit’, using the term very loosely, gets moaned about were all mysoginistic aholes….

Replace Schiff with Susie Wolf….. at least shes driven an F1 car!!

I must confess I would like to see her be given a few laps in a current (or 2020 or so at least) F1 car and see how she does - like they let Brundle etc do.

Danica I can't gel with for some reason, just does not seem to have the level of insight I was expecting of an actual, damn good, racing driver.... I do not know however if she has been told NOT to get overly complicated/racing etc to keep it down at the lower denominator of the audience..

She admitted to Tom Clarkson in the Beyond The Grid podcast she winged the first Sky race she did. Unlike, say, James Hinchcliffe who slotted in perfectly in F1TV's coverage. She's blatantly someone with a passing interest in F1 and having done great work on Fox/NASCAR as well as Indy 500 should have known better.

What would anyone expect, she is American, the vast majority of whom live in a bubble of NASCAR, IMSA and Indycar, you cannot blame her for that. That is no different to fans of motorsport over here who might not have a clue about those American sports.

I think she brings far more in real terms than Schiff as she has driven at the top level, albeit only really done much good in single seaters, but she can relate to a lot of things, pressure, fan expectation, (immense at her peak) and for SKY also hae a valuable insight into what it takes for a woman to get to the top.

I feel like Schiff has realised her driving carer is not going anywhere, parked it (instead of carrying on for years in crap) and got an agent to get her media work, she fits several profiles and why not.

I would also suggest the comments about their words are largely to do with SKY, they pretty much tell everyone what to say in their ear largely

Hey, you complain about Schiff and Patrick, I've just listened to the BBC Chequered Flag Podcast Bahrain Review and Sam Bird was on there saying Lando was having to come in repeatedly to fill up with fuel rofl

I think Lando was 10 years old when refuelling was abolished in F1!

Danica really doesn’t offer much considering the experience she has imo… she’s not said a thing that I didn’t already know. Apart from that I don’t have a strong opinion on whether either of them should be there or not.

Maybe she's not there 'for' you? Maybe she's there to represent newcomers to the sport, offer an 'outsider's' perspective, and to be a familiar face for F1's growing US audience?

The job of a presenter / anchor / pundit is mostly to ask questions which they generally already know the answer to.

That’s a good and fair point.. I’d not looked at it that way but I think others there put across what F1 is, what is happening on the track, why etc much better.

What's wrong with that? Well, she's there as an 'expert', it would be appropriate for her to be one.

Sky, like all the other TV outlets across the world, take the live FOM feed broadcast from Biggin Hill. Then just tack their own presenters in to their particular TV program for transmission.
So yes , they get the same pictures with their own presenters in vision.
