Round 9 and we’re back in Canada after a two-year hiatus. It’s a great circuit but it will be good to get back to some permanent race circuits soon. I’ve a feeling that the circuit will suit the RB18 down to the ground, and Ferrari will need to be on its game (both performance and reliability) to avoid another walk over.

It will be interesting to see if Ricciardo can keep up the glimmer of a recovery, and whether Hamilton can get on terms with Russell in qualifying. For Channel 4 viewers, be warned it’s a late one.

I’ve narrowed the poll down a bit to take up less space, now we have a better idea of who has a chance. Here’s to a great race!

Date(s): Friday 17 to Sunday 19 June 2022.

UK Broadcast Timings (and local time)

All sessions are live on Sky F1. Qualifying and the race are shown as highlights on Channel 4.

Live timing for all sessions available here:

https://www.formula1.com/en/f1-live.html

Lap times, PU component use, technical reports and Stewards' decisions for the weekend will appear here:

Weather forecast:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/6077243

Tyre options:

Pirelli has again chosen the softest range of tyres, so C3, C4 and C5. The old Q2 tyre rule is scrapped for 2022.

Thanks as always for the thread, PP.

Hard to see it being anyone other than Verstappen. Cruising to the title.

Hoping for a good showing from Leclerc and Perez, to keep the championship running as long as possible.

Let’s also hope the drivers are all fit, after what was a very physical race in Baku.

Ferrari have had cars that should be quick for many recent seasons. That doesn't stop them finding a way wink

A sentiment I see is now being reflected in the poll for this GP thread.

Is Ricardo really showing the suggested glimer of a revival, or did Lando just have a bad day?

DR played the strategy right last weekend, one of few drivers to start on the hard tyre, making a single pit stop at the second VSC which let him jump Lando. A good day out for the Aussie, after a run of poor form.

Max at a canter, the usual five behind fighting for positions and maybe a surprise, an Alpine on the podium again or something.

As it's been going so well for me, I'm going to continue voting for LeClerc to win assuming the Ferrari will be quicker... hehe

I really don't understand the whole Miami > Spain > Monaco > Azerbaijan > Canada > UK planning.

The whole calendar for this year is, to be fair, a mess due to all the political and historic deals in place. Really feel for all the mechanics and team staff having to hop around like this.

As for the race itself, RBR circuit imho with their straight line advantage. Ferrari will be close, probably qualify on pole or at least front row, but LeClerc will probably bin it in to the Wall of Champions and Sainz will get a botched strategy to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Ironically, Max might wipe out on the Wall of Champions.

Norris traded performance for less bouncing as per his post race interview.

Danny Rics car was noticeably more bouncy than Norris' in Baku....

Thanks for the thread OP. Can I make a small suggestion please? Can the championship standings be included in future race posts? It would be handy to have the info readily available to see how the upcoming race can effect the order of things.

The back straight has always been good for cars bottoming out. Expect lots of bottoming and Merc whinging.
