NETFLIX DRIVE TO SURVIVE SEASON 5
Discussion
Finished it earlier today. We all know its dramatised but its still a fun watch. Acts as a good reminder and makes you look forward to next week.
But I did see an article somewhere that Max had final say over his editing and portrayal. And i dont recall seeing anything about Max and Checo in Brazil? Unless i missed it 🤔

Started binge watching it this morning.
Having suffered from back issues, I can't help but think Lewis holding his back after jumping out of the car and walking around isn't something you are able to do if you really have done your back in! Seems like it was more for show.
As an Orthopaedic Neurosurgeon, what was your prognosis? Fascinated to know...Having suffered from back issues, I can't help but think Lewis holding his back after jumping out of the car and walking around isn't something you are able to do if you really have done your back in! Just saying most teams looked to be suffering from porpoising, yet Lewis is the only one walking around holding his back randomly whilst none of the other drivers are? It looked a bit suss.. And then there are accusations towards Toto around playing up to the cameras on the subject (which I didn't understand at first). I'm guessing because mercedes wanted a rule change to level the playing field in their favour?
Anyway, it may have been been edited in a way to make mercedes look a little dodgy for some added drama..

Enjoyed it. Noticable lack of Vettel retirement at the end, but a great intro to the 2023 season.
And Yuki is suportable, now...!!!
That was a bit odd, especially as a big deal was made of Dani Ric "leaving".And Yuki is suportable, now...!!!
Yukio does seem a laugh, when he isn't being a tt on the radio.

He probably got a therapeutic massage from the identical Asian twins in the Austin Powers movie, checked his bank balance and decided he was pretty much ok...
Gotta bounce,

Brazil seems to have been skipped all together - Nothing about Merc winning either. But I did see an article somewhere that Max had final say over his editing and portrayal. And i dont recall seeing anything about Max and Checo in Brazil? Unless i missed it ??
Maybe Netflix weren't in Brazil or they didn't have people in Mercedes or Red Bull for that race.

It was kinda 50:50 tongue-in-cheek, as I thought after the race (I don't watch D2S) that Lewis was exaggerating...however, I was not in his seat and am not a back doctor.

Team principal wouldn't have apologised live on the radio if it wasn't a st show....He probably got a therapeutic massage from the identical Asian twins in the Austin Powers movie, checked his bank balance and decided he was pretty much ok...

I thought the previous seasons had pretty much one episode per team, seems like they skipped Williams this time around (Latifi not even interviewed) and little Alfa, other than the Zhou crash (no Bottas interview either).
As usual, the controversial bits like the overspend and Verstappen's strop against Perez were quite quickly dispatched or glossed over.
I thought drama sold eyeballs?

Cheating and favoritism doesn't fit the "look at this New Messiah of F1" message...? As usual, the controversial bits like the overspend and Verstappen strop against Perez were quite quickly dispatched or glossed over.

Nah, the Netflix crews follow certain teams at week race weekends based on a pre-determined schedule, but at the end of the season and before DTS is put together they sit down and work out the story lines they want to follow. It's not a case of everyone getting equal screen time. As usual, the controversial bits like the overspend and Verstappen strop against Perez were quite quickly dispatched or glossed over.

I enjoyed it, but still too much Horner in the whole thing; his sanctimonious whining about other teams being mad at RB for going $400k over budget was annoying - like he wouldn't be bumping his gums if the shoe was on the other foot.
It was strangle to see them gush over Danny Ric at the end but no mention of Vettel, but I suppose Vettel is very private and DR was DTS's biggest personality in the early seasons so understandable.
