Something, something Max, something Piastri robbed, something, something best car by far, something conspiracy.
Not at all. He made a ton of mistakes throughout the season, including crashing into his teammate, and only won the WDC because Max couldn't control his temper in Barcelona. Piastri went to pieces halfway through the season, so I'd not have him placed so highly either.Given that Norris scraped a WDC by the skin of his teeth and Piastri had a mid-season meltdown, I'd have both of them below Ogier, Estre and Palou.
Ogier won a championship despite only doing half the races.
Did you watch Estre's performance at Le Mans? And throughout the WEC season.
Palou did the Indy 500/championship double, which is a pretty rare feat.

There’s a lot of what iffing to pin the championship on Max’s meltdown in BarcelonaOne could argue thst the only reason it went down to the wire was McLaren being stupid enough to get themselves disqualified in Vegas and Norris’ engine blowing in Zandvoort….otherwise max wouldn’t have had a sniff.

You do make some good points, which Muzzer addresses.
Ogier is a great champion, the WRC is no longer a great Championship.
I watched the whole of the WEC. If I remember correctly, Estre had teammates.
Palou did well in a regional championship.

OP - this is from a set of well regarded French motorsport journalists listing their top drivers across all categories.

Not too shabby at all.
Marc and Alex Marquez, Marco Bezzecchi and Pedro Acosta are riders not drivers and Pedro should really be the 2nd rider on the list if this is based on talent and not pure results. Not too shabby at all.
Audi F1 have now signed Freddie Slater as their first academy driver.
