F1 has rejected Andretti's entry bid

Utterly pointless if you ask me. Cadillac? Probably some old school managers who don’t realise their product is st and think racing is going to be good for their brand. What are they going to be able to offer in Europe that isn’t already here in droves
Why do they even need to sell cars in Europe?CoolHands said:

Once Trump’s tariffs come in they can sell a lot more in the US with zero competition from expensive European and Asian cars.F1 is big in the US now, so US(les) cars for US drivers, what could possibly go wrong?

Hilarious that in every utterance they can’t bring themselves to say the name Andretti.
Well Mario Andretti has joined GM/Cadillac on the board of directors.I'm sure Michael Andretti is hiding behind him and once they have joined, he will jump out and join the team in some way!

OK, that makes more sense. Let’s see how long selling Cadillacs in Europe lasts this time. Last time, they were trying to flog re-skinned Saabs as Cadillacs and it lasted about 18 months.
The Cadillac cars that Europe thinks it's going to get:The Cadillac cars that Europe actually gets (rebadged Vauxhall/Opel):

Except GM doesn't have any European brands to rebadge anymore. Vauxhall and Opel are now part of Stellantis. I think the only GM product currently available in Europe is the Corvette. This time they will either have to be proper American Cadillacs or rebadged Daewoos.
Ah yes I remember the rebadged Daewoos:I would love to see this beast on UK roads:
Partly to ps off the Range Rover w**kers that think they own the road.

I wouldn’t be too upset if the CT4 and 5 blackwings made it over to Europe. Supersam83 said:
Ha ha, top trolling from Andretti. I think Liberty realised they were staking on very thin legal ice by denying the entry, so they’ve all agreed to change the label and save face. GM’s lawyers were going after F1, as was the US Congress. Not a good look when you’re a listed company.

Cadillac doesn’t have the same cachet as the other F1 team names does it?Ferrari
McLaren
William
Etc.
Conjure an image of big, luxurious road cars… I know, I know they make fast cars too, but…

I never felt that something like that could sell in the UK but there's a mum at 6, 4 and 2Ace's school that does the school run in a Merc GLS. I've seen a few X7s around too, so now I'm not quite sure. Partly to ps off the Range Rover w**kers that think they own the road.
I struggle to understand why it is considered remotely important whether Cadillac has sufficient cachet to be 'worthy ' of a place at the F1 table. Very few of the existing teams had any real identity outside the rarefied world of lower formulae before they entered F1. Mercedes, formerly Brawn , Honda and BAR started off in a Surrey woodyard , Red Bull formerly Jaguar was a team which grew out of Stewart which had been an F3 stalwart. VCarb started as perennial F2 and F1 triers Minardi and Williams was a bloke with a phone box for an office.
If a team has the money and makes a car compliant with the regs and driven by someone with the right licence of course it should have a go. And don't get me started on the Eurocentricity which makes sneering at Cadillac a national pastime.

Listening to "The Race" podcast around this subject, the anti-dilution fee just seems crazy.
I understand why its there - but when you hear figures such as $450 million -> $Billion being banded around it just makes you take a step back and think about the money flying around in this sport.
I'm all for a new team coming in - more drivers, more cars on the grid, more interest so hopefully only a good thing. Just the figures around F1 just seem so huge!
Suppose if you were to try and buy yourself into the premier league you would be looking at multi-billions of pounds for a top team. I wonder where does F1 lie in terms of point of entry into the top tier of a sport?
