Listening to "The Race" podcast around this subject, the anti-dilution fee just seems crazy.
I understand why its there - but when you hear figures such as $450 million -> $Billion being banded around it just makes you take a step back and think about the money flying around in this sport.
I'm all for a new team coming in - more drivers, more cars on the grid, more interest so hopefully only a good thing. Just the figures around F1 just seem so huge!
Suppose if you were to try and buy yourself into the premier league you would be looking at multi-billions of pounds for a top team. I wonder where does F1 lie in terms of point of entry into the top tier of a sport?
The difference with the Premier League being that you can get yourself promoted to it. I understand why its there - but when you hear figures such as $450 million -> $Billion being banded around it just makes you take a step back and think about the money flying around in this sport.

The problem those opposed to a new entry have, is that the sport’s regulations provide for up to 12 entries, and the anti-dilution fee is set at $200m. If a qualified (by the FIA) entrant turns up with the fee, then F1 have little choice in practice but to allow them an entry.
Yes, the entry itself is now easily worth the best part of $1bn, the $200m fee was set far too low and will likely be revised next year when the opportunity arises to do so.
