I think if someone conflates a happy life with not needing to work anymore, that person made a misstep somewhere along the way. For any F1 driver, TP or even a successful HoD in F1, the work is the life they aimed for before they started work.
Doesn't even need to be a HoD I'd suggest, being more senior doesn't necessarily make the work more enjoyable.

I've been junior, senior, manager and will be HoD in a few years, and they've all been thoroughly enjoyable because it's F1, I've got no interest in retiring at all, maybe I'll feel differently in 20 years but it honestly doesn't feel like work. Not real work anyway, it's hard work and a lot of time and effort, but I love it.

I can totally imagine how for AN, if you love designing racecars, why not do it at one of the highest levels in Motorsport, you have the best competition, the best facilities, big budgets, lots of good people etc etc.

It's a rewarding environment to 'work' in.
Glad you're happy!

As for AN, in addition to enjoying his work I think it's sometimes overlooked that he's a racer too. He's sat on the pitwall for years and is integral to the team/car/driver 'going racing' in the most effective manner. When the car wins, it's not just validation of his design effort, but it's also satisfying for the simple joy of having won a race. This is why he races cars outside of F1 (albeit with mixed results whistle)
I get that but has said in the past how he dislikes F1 becoming more and more restrictive. For a while he was a part-timer on the F1 side of things and is then triggered and upset with Pierre Wache's technical direction. Gordon Murray and John Barnard have gone off and done their own things and challenged themselves, promote themselves; F1 feels a bit safe for Newey and I get that the days of designing for and running your own team are long gone.

I m just dreading Crofty trying to explain these new rules at every opportunity at every race.
Did anyone else see Ted literally walking around in circles with a driver (I forget who) trying to explain the new rules. Utter nonsense.

"The wheels on the racing car go round & round... round & round all race long"...

NB: A lot of negative vibes abound... & that's just from the teams & drivers.
(No doubt the FIA will silence them... it doesn't show the sport in a good light)

Wasnt' sure where to put this, so here we are.

Red Bull's Chief Designer has quit ahead of the '26 season. He's been there since '06.

That seems like a big announcement to me

A bit of a surprise halfway through testing and just 3 weeks before the first GP weekend. Although maybe he hung on to complete and validate the car ahead of announcing his departure. Not sure why they wouldn't put that in the official press release if that's the case though.

Not even a year after Neweys departure too - which I would have assumed was something of a leg up for Craig at the time.

That's true, but doesn't explain why he's decided to leave in the first place.

Bloody Hell. Barcelona to alternate with Spa until 2032. One of the best tracks loses half its races to one of the most boring.

Even though Spa hasn't really delivered good races in recent years it a shame to see it sharing. Does that mean for most of northern europe Silverstone will be their closest race? FOM better hope that the recent growth continues and new audiences stay for the long term.

No doubt Domenicali is doing a good job for his employers.

The sport? Not so good.

I imagine it's chartered by whoever in-between his use of it, as is normal.

Although who knows, maybe he's gone to shop at the Trafford Centre smile
