I think that's wise. It's a hell of a lot of money for what seems to be an FIA development season for the sport.

The 2026 regulations were/are clearly a mistake (as far as PUs) are concerned. I am curious to know why no one ever seems to get the sack for presiding over such a c**k up?

It was a decision made by committee, which is never good. Everyone has their wishlist and the end result is a turd of a compromise.

So the new plan is to increase IC power and decrease electrical dependency by around 50kw (70bhp)

But it's just an idea they're mooting, no explanation as to how the teams are expected to increase IC power or package the extra fuel required.

This is going to be messy as these cars are not designed to have the headroom for such changes, especially not at short notice.
They build new tubs every year, more fuel capacity is not a problem.
Engine redesign for more power is easy in that timescale. Honda will likely build a totally new PU anyway.

The FIA are weighting towards tech, no thought for entertainment, or proper racing. Brand awareness has gone into overdrive, and Sod what the people paying to watch want. That’s very football, not motorsport. It’s always been driven by brand awareness ( since the emergence of sponsorship), but it seems to be so heavily weighted towards the commercial, the sports side doesn’t matter anymore. It was always coming, it was inevitable, but I think F1 has jumped the proverbial shark, it’s sowed the seed, it’s going to reap the whirlwind.

All changes sound promising and acheivable for 2027. No idea why people are collectively setting fire to their F1 wall posters and stuff lol.
Maybe its just outrage for the sake of outrage,or max is not winning so I hate everything lol.

As I understand it for several teams, this way to be a carry over year for the tub, and with some expectation that the PU specs would be fixed - which they supposedly were... although I doubt anyone really thought there wouldn't be a revision there.

It's messy because they're now changing things on the fly and may continue to do so. Nobody really knows where they stand in the midst of this experiment.

It's promising in advance much as they're backing off electric power dependency. I think the 60/40 split will make a small yet important difference. But for the cars to behave and race as in previous years, 70/30 split is required I think. Unless they're to put an M/G on the front axle, which they definitely won't.

Gary Anderson has done an article on the latest changes to the power deliver

https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/gary-anderson-f...

Pretty complicated to follow unless you work in these fields.
What gets me is the trust given to simulators. Everyone trots out that the have run x,y and z on the simulator and somehow what it produces is the correct results.
Obviously not in F1and all the engine makers cases going back to when they dreamt up these rules.
Its just like with AI. Everyone blindly accepts it is outperforming humans in everything, when a lot of the output is st.
As a fan watching I am quite happy, but those invested in the technology are probably going to be upset.

On the fence for me.

The overtakes leave me a bit cold. The new rules have meant I’ve had to do a fair bit of overtime.

On the other hand, watching a procession can be incredibly dull.

I’m not a fan, I like to see a car pushed at all points it can be on track so the driver can make a difference if the circumstances are right, not having to slow down on straights and at other points to get some charge back, thats too much like charging up your nitros in Need for Speed by doing stunts for my liking.

The big gaps between races this year (not that it is F1’s fault) aren’t helping to keep my interest either, plus the prospect of the potential for that to happen again towards the end of the year if the current situation isn’t over.

An update on this. I have taken a deposit for the tickets, and all being well, I am getting back what I paid for them.

I think if I had held out and waited until closer to the F1 weekend, I could have probably made a tidy profit despite the current F1 debacle, but I am happy just to get out of this without having made a loss.

We have booked a weekend in a trackside Escapade three-bedroom apartment at the BRDC classic. I will probably do a thread about that after the event.

That would be a good piece to read, as it’s a new and innovative product. For F1 weekend it’s a similar price to the Paddock Club.

Have a good weekend at the Classic.

I think it is £57,000 for our Escapade apartment over the F1 weekend. Silverstone doesn't include a race ticket for that, btw, you have to pay for that separately!

Anyway, I am looking forward to trying it over the BRDC classic weekend.
