It's a different system to the driver controlled boost.
Ah OK. I thought it was a driver-operated thing like boost. Although I guess to an extent it's all controllable by the driver by changing modes and/or throttle modulation?

Kimi is going to be a hot head that's for sure. George just needs to keep his cool and let the teenager self destruct. It's gonna be good for the punters and for the F1 viewing figures.
He's certainly shown elements of hot-headedness this season, but far fewer than I'd expected for his age and experience. I guess if Russell closes the gap, the immaturity might start to make itself more known towards the end of the season. He does remind me of a young Verstappen in some ways, just without the "everything you do is right, so every issue must be someone else's fault" message from those surrounding him that seemed to poison Verstappen during his formative years, which I don't think he's ever quite got over.

I think George may end up losing it with paranoia setting in that Toto and the team are favouring Kimi. smile

From a press and marketing perspective I’d suggest a Kimi championship would be very very positive…

…and guarantee him an offer at Ferrari (assuming he doesn’t have one already) - a proven Italian WDC in Maranello…

He'd be mad to go to Ferrari while there's a Mercedes seat available IMO. I've seen little to indicate that their endemic cultural issues have even been acknowledged let alone fixed.

I'm slightly bemused as to why Leclerc is still there really. If Ferrari win a championship in the next ten years it will be despite them being Ferrari, not because of it.

I didn’t say he should go to Ferrari… just that he would be offered.

Good bargaining chip to have on the table.

Maybe, it certainly can't hurt, but I'm sure any team he'd be seriously interested in knows that going to Ferrari would be career suicide.

If he keeps up his current form, I think he'll quickly surpass Max as the lost desirable driver on the grid. He seems to have roughly the same talent with half the attitude and none of the baggage.

F1 TV isn't particularly difficult to do. I pay about £20 per month to ViaTV, and I think the VPN works out at about £3 per month. Not having to tolerate Croft is wonderful.

I've not watched the Sky coverage for years so have forgotten how annoying Croft is but I'm not sure F1 TV is the solution here given that the main commentator is Alex Jacques who I increasingly find unbearable. He has the same problem as Croft of constantly over-egging the action and telling us it's unbelievably exciting even though we can see it isn't, and each race he uses the word 'roar' more often then there are overtakes.

Radio five live. I turn off the sound on the TV. Much more enjoyable.

There is sometimes a time lag, but this is not necessarily a bad thing as I've often thought Croft's commentary would improve if there was something similar.

Yeah, he can get a bit shouty, but overall, he is much, much better than Croft, and the rest of the team is mostly brilliant too.

Alex Jaques is also the C4 commentator (do C4 do their commentary to video post race?) and ruins it for me.

It'll be interesting to see if the new compression ratio test has any impact on Mercedes performance at Monaco.

Indeed, I was actually thinking about that yesterday-
It seems to have been forgotten about by most.

Yes the Channel 4 commentary is now exactly the same as F1 TV. I'm not sure how it came about.

I agree the rest of the commentary team is good which just emphasises how weak Jacques is.

I guess it will be the worst circuit to assess though. Barcelona might be more telling. Personally, I can't see it having much impact.
