Gucci new title sponsor of Alpine
Discussion
Gucci are absolutely haemorrhaging money, it's going to be really interesting to see where they go with this. Will they try to remain luxury or will this be an attempt to go mainstream and chase sales?
Gasly already does a bit of modelling and Franco has the female fans weak at the knees...
I can see it being a successful partnership as it happens, in the main F1 apparel has been fairly tragic for a long time-young folk aren't going to look at Zak Brown in an orange polo shirt with matching pants and say "that's who I want to look like". Boss was quite successful with Mercedes for a while but I can see this going well.

If you sell stuff and aren't selling enough, you need better marketing.Gasly already does a bit of modelling and Franco has the female fans weak at the knees...

But there's no reason to think that would mean the brand be moving more mainstream, that's never really an option for too end designer brands.
Gucci's arguably pretty cheap (it's all relative!) for it's sector anyway. I can imagine F1 advertising isn't a bad way to increase sales of bags and belts that are just about affordable for most working people if they're tempted enough...

How some of these companies make so much money I have no idea. I looked at their brands and have never heard of any of them. And they re in all sorts of sectors which to me just sounds like we do anything, and none of it well ! However, they re loaded and I m not so what do I know"ROKiT Group: The global lifestyle, beverage, and telecommunications brand is British"

I think at the time Williams budget for the entire year had dropped below £100m, and a chunk of that came from championship money and special payments before they had to scrape together a few ropey sponsors.
Claire ran that team into the ground trying to maintain her father's principles for what the team had to be - and worse of all that stubborn approach forced the sale of the team for a pittance just a year before the cost caps were agreed and then would have (has) been valued 10x as a result. She could easily have survived that extra year by taking more Merc parts and trimming staff a couple of years earlier.
Rokit just turned up to take advantage, as they should, they're a business too.

Black and gold livery sounds good, although the 2011-15 ones lacked the crispness of the JPSs. Hope BWT don't leave the grid and take their pink somewhere.
Although it does rather shatter my hopes for seeing the original Alpine blue, white and red livery return. The 2021 Alpine looked glorious. TheDeuce said:
I can't even remember how that ended up but I'm sure they took Rokit out of desperation at the time and even if bills were paid in full, I doubt it was a huge sum...

Rokit have been ordered to pay Williams tens of millions for failed sponsorship payments, hardly acceptable business practice IMO.I think at the time Williams budget for the entire year had dropped below £100m, and a chunk of that came from championship money and special payments before they had to scrape together a few ropey sponsors.

What, if anything, was their excuse for non payment at the time?

Is this going to go the same way as the Louis Vuitton branding round the circuits? That looks awful to me and to a few friends I've spoken to who know their fashion!
Just different brands on the barriers, soon to be in the cars...What difference does it make? Do you find the Aramco logos to be more fitting than LV or Gucci?
