I ve done the Monaco GP twice and I think it should be on every fan s bucket list. The atmosphere is brilliant and inevitably one day Liberty will decide that there s more money to be made replacing it with some soulless, new track in a country we ve never even thought of. Then you ll wish you had gone when you had the chance.
I'd definitely consider going if naturally aspirated engines come back, as is being considered. It will still be a procession, but an inpressive one, aurally...smile

As it is, I am probably going to do a trip to the classic in 2028.

That's a good call.

My first experience of an F1 race was at Monaco during the V10 era. We stayed in Nice and traveled to Monaco via the train.

The engine noise you could hear as you got off the train was fantastic. It just got better and better the closer you got to the track and on another level during practice, quali and the race - something I'll never forget.

I'm doubt that I'd go again, but it was definitely worth it at the time for the spectacle that is Monaco. However, I'm not sure it would have been as memorable without the V10 noise and the current cars.

Popping along to the Monaco F1 as its a race we have never done.

Although it is likely to be a procession I am looking forward to the atmosphere. Chosen our seating at Grandstand L (Piscine Rainer III) exit of swimming pool so hoping we managed to get a good view of the pits as well.

As a newbie who has not done Monaco, we are staying in Nice and planning to get the train across - is it a scrum to get on the train or is it pretty civilised??

I was watching the 1983 Monaco race on Sky and could not believe the proportions of the Ferrari 126C3. It looks ridiculously squat.

Ferrari have always had fun with rear wings - the split wing as seen at Long Beach 1982 :

Likewise. I went to Monaco in 2005 and the violence of the engines and gunfire like downshifts bouncing off the buildings was something I’ll never forget.

I also remember that the V10 noise was further enhanced by a hangover. biggrin

I’ve been a couple of times. The noise used to be incredible, I’m not sure it’s quite the same these days. It’s one of two races that I’ll still make the effort to watch the other being Spa.

If you do the Monaco Historique 2028, then definitely wander around the paddock at Quai Antoine (near La Rascasse). Any petrol head nostalgic race fan will be in heaven.

Crikey, with those odds you should have gone to the casino and bet large. biggrin

The Historic is a good shout - that's something I'd go back to experience.

Gone for Lewis which seems at the moment to be the popular option.

It will probably be a rubbish race but I'll be watching it with some beers in a Mallorcan pub so I'll manage!

I'll be fine, I have F1 TV.

But I will take a sip every time 'the glitz and the glamour' gets repeated.

I should be nicely pissed by the time the race starts.

If you are thinking about going to monaco for the F1 give your head a wobble and go for the classic, you can thank me later.

Actually it's been my most reliable car over the last 20 years. The last two japanese cars both had new engines under warrenty.

26mpg on average as well over 2050 miles. And yes did the casino, came out 24 euros up. Huge number of posh cars parked outside in the evening

and yes- Napolean route as well
