However poor the racing on Sunday, this is still a highlight of the season.

You accept that there is rarely/never a race, so what makes you see it as a 'highlight of the season'?

Thanks PiaP!

I m going for the two Mercs taking each other out and Lewis for the win. 2nd and 3rd Charles and Max in any order.
A very precise prediction!
If I'm wrong, at least I'll be very wrong. No half measures! smile

Watching F1 cars through the swimming pool complex in free practice and qualifying is reason enough for me. Drivers fighting cars that have no place on a tight street circuit. In qualifying the pressure is higher because there is almost no chance of recovering from a bad grid slot.

Also… Monaco! I’m not generally interested in the lifestyles of the rich and wannabe famous, but I do love the shots of super yachts in the sunshine. Moored just far enough from the track to avoid debris in an accident.

I like Monaco quali. Really like it.

Monaco itself I found somewhat tacky.

As for Sunday in Monaco, that can bugger off. Every year, I still get drawn into watching, because I am an F1 addict, and every year, I am annoyed that I completely wasted my afternoon.

For me, just to get a glimpse of a hot blonde bird on a yacht with her tits hanging out makes Monaco acceptable.

Monaco is a fabulous race to go and actually watch live. There’s just something special about being there.

There are special websites you could visit for this, without also having to put up with the Monaco GP. smile

Sunday I view as nothing more than a celebration of the history of F1. It's essentially a two hour tribute to the sport, often enriched a little by some sort of drama - or the chance of rain, and in Monaco there is always that chance.

But Saturday is very good, so good that I agree, Monaco is a genuine highlight of the season.

As for the place itself, I've enjoyed working there as it's an 'interesting' place, plenty to gawk at! But I wouldn't go there for a holiday!

Monaco is a weird place. There are lots of classy towns along that stretch of coast. We used to dock in Villefranche, which I liked, sort of elegantly understated.

I found Monaco kind of the opposite, it reminded me a bit of Puerto Banus!

ETA.

I should have said we tendered in Villefranche, not docked.

I'm another Lewis hopeful. The Ferrari has a great chassis but down on power...
From what I am reading ALL the cars will be so low down on power they will have a Flintstone Monaco upgrade so the drivers can use their feet to make the car actually go faster

As Pamela Anderson said over dinner in the film Showgirl, "well, I wouldn't say *hanging out* exactly."

I just saw this on Instagram: A prediction that these cars could break the lap record this weekend. The reasoning is that there is very little full throttle, and lots of braking. So there's unlikely to be much clipping and no super-clipping at this circuit.

Interesting idea.

Entirely possible. Although it may be next season that they beat the lap record, based on experience from this year's running to perfect energy management.

For me, Monaco is a continental mini Vegas. st tonnes of money spent on showing off by buying things nobody really needs, by people that I expect I mostly wouldn't like.

On the other hand... Plenty of spectacle is on offer. Those 100m+ mega yachts are impressive and it's a petrol heads paradise in terms of car porn.

The army of Russian hookers on their march to the next client in the evening is quite the sight. Monaco is my idea of hell.

If Putin had sent them to Ukraine he would've already won the war
