Formula 1, Rich Daddies indulging their spoilt sons?

I was watching an interview on IG the other day whereby the interviewer raised this subject to Lewis Hamilton.
The interviewer raised the point that it costs circa 10 million to get to F1 (unsure if that's pounds, or dollars), but going by this thread, it appears to be even more than that?
F1 & Premier League aren't comparable in terms of cost.
I have a family member who is currently playing academy level for a very good side, his parents do drive him all over the country every weekend for tournaments, if they aren't, they're lift sharing with others or going on the club coach.
He's also at training an hour away 2-3 times a week.
Their costs are some petrol/diesel/the odd Premier Inn/Travel Lodge stay, which, of course is a cost, but it's £1,000's, rather than millions for F1.

22 F1 drivers and more in F2 ready to make the jump. It is a very exclusive club.
I was listening to Oscar podcast. In order to get to F1, Europe seems to be the place to be. I would assume spain or Italy due to the weather. Of course that's a cost, so in those cases daddy will be paying

so whilst that isn't exactly the favela's you can see where his clumsy 'slums' comment came from & he would certainly have had a different type of upbringing to most F1 drivers

Point is though it's not the context of motorsport that is relevant here it's the context of other people in the county. The money Antony was earning put him well into the top 5% of the country.The bloke probably made £1-300k a year which in the context of motorsport is peanuts. Earning money like that and re-mortgaging etc is very far from unusual in the motorsport world. What was unusual was getting picked up by a team at such a young age so his parents didn't have to find the massive amounts of money that others did to get him through those junior stages.
There seems to be this myth that Lewis is the only driver of his generation that didn't have multi-millionaire parents. Some people need to try reading more motorsport biographies.
Just as an aside and prompted by this thread, I did a bit of a deep dive into David Bearman (Ollie's Dad). Quite the entrepreneur!
Comes from a very modest background. Set up an insurance company above a shop in Romford when he was 18. Grew it to become a $1billion business with no external investment - one of the largest self-invested business in the UK. Was offered a seat as a Dragon on Dragon's Den but turned it down.

Top 5% is not a high salary in the U.K. really - £93k apparently. Not even remotely enough to pay for proper motorsport. Earning money like that and re-mortgaging etc is very far from unusual in the motorsport world. He very clearly wasn’t from multi millionaire parents, that’s what everyone is telling you. The rebuttal that he was an IT manager isn’t changing that, it’s compounding it.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding you but ultimately, Lewis came from relatively humble beginnings as far as motorsport is concerned. The end.

Apart possibly from football, this is true for most sports. In golf, I’d say most competitive families are spending £10k+ a year at junior level.It continues
