Escapade Silverstone Weekend

In fairness to Berg he's probably talking more about the 48k price for one at Grand prix weekend.

£1900 is probably similar to Centre Parcs these days.

I was there on the Saturday and had the good fortune to be in Corporate Hospitality opposite. I counted several units with the full quota of 12 people and calculated that the cost per head was actually cheaper than Corporate Hospitality. But that assumes you've 11 mates willing to cough up what is a still a hefty amount to watch a GP! Didn’t realise about the day passes, that’s not totally crazy for the F1 given that the Paddock Club runs to £10k a head and most of the other hospitality is well into four figures. Can totally imagine corporates booking them for suppliers and customers.

I don't understand why you are comparing the two, WH is a tired 1990s generic hotel 7 miles from the circuit and doesn't come with any kind of F1 benefit and Escapade is a privately owned (or rented) apartment directly overlooking the circuit to which you can order food and drink to your guests in the room and just wake up and open the curtains to view the circuit. You might as well compare it to the Premier Inn at the Green Man as cheaper still.

If you'd spent any time in one you'd know how silly the prison camp comment is.

In which case, point me to the crime I can commit that would grant me a sentence there.

Leaving the hospitality car park on the Saturday, the road takes you along the back of the complex. There's netting up to stop prying eyes but you can still peak in and container port prison camp it most certainly isn't.

It is a very well screwed together development. The units are purpose designed and built and it sold out, off plan. Most expensive unit selling for £3m.

The team is now building a complex comprising hotel and residences at Spa.

Yeah, 48k is a bit toppy, but having witnessed the racing from that balcony, if I had the means, I’d love to see the F1 from there. Well, once they’ve fixed it!

That looks great, and lets face it, the classic is one of the best weekends Silverstone holds.
And ignoring the F1 the price sounds reasonable.

My issue with those horrors is that there used to be grandstands there which were affordable for Joe Public. What's there now pretty well encapsulates Silverstone and modern F1.

I get that it's nice. It ought to be for tgat amount of money, and I know fir a fact the idea with F1 is for it to be rented for largely business reasons it's corporate, I know the folk tgat built it and a on the press list for the place. 50 grand to impress potential clients at a AAA even is probably fair, akin to world cup tickets, big game corporate boxes etc.

The comments were only based on the amount if disposable income a lot of the world seems to have and waste on stuff like this

I should not be surprised I guess, but I also think posting about it on very available section on this forum is somewhat akin to look at me. Which I guess is part of the package and why you might stay there.

Each to their own obviously.

We live in the fifth richest country in the world and you're posting to rubbish the thoughtful write up of a chap and his friends that pulled together £2k plus dinner £ for a full weekend away together, with amazing views and comfort..?

There is only one poster on this entire thread, who appears determined to let everyone know they're part of a financial minority in the UK. And it's boring.

The rest of us aren't so obsessed with money.

I've only posted my report on this particular page. It's disappointing to hear this is how you feel, Luke.


We are all anonymous here; posting for 'attention' would be pointless. I included the various costs from the weekend because I thought it might be helpful to others considering a similar trip. I thought it was surprisingly good value, given how much the F1 weekend there costs. In fact, I originally investigated Escapade only out of curiosity, not believing for a moment that it would be something we'd be in a position to do.


As has been discussed, six people can stay in that apartment. Doing this outside of an F1 weekend is good value, and that view is something that no one will ever forget.

I just booked for a friend's wedding nearby in November. Worked out £100 cheaper for the fragrant Mrs Castrol and I to stay at Escapade than at Whittlebury Hall

What a view of a brilliant part of the circuit, especially for the historics squirming around there.


48k for the F1 weekend! As always, supply and demand. But what a way to experience an F1 weekend.

For a full weekend of historic racing with accomodation in such a location I don't see it as expensive.
