For a full weekend of historic racing with accomodation in such a location I don't see it as expensive.

Yeah, crazy money for the GP weekend, but sensibly priced otherwise.

There is also a pretty wide choice of apartments, either trackside like ours, or 'countryside'. For me, it was all about seeing the racing from that vantage point, but it would be an interesting place to stay anyway, I think.

No, will be one of the smaller "countryside" units. Despite visiting the place dozens of times on business, I have yet to go to the museum, so we'll visit there and I might also treat her to a frothy coffee and bit of flapjack at the Coffee Box

This was the best I could come up with for the rest of this season, a snip at US$29,000 per person!

Good write up Paul very interesting. I live just down the road from Silverstone so if you need restaurant recommendations in future just shout.

I was right opposite that Gordon Ramsay pit when I went to Silverstone quali; I was having a look at it through the binoculars.

Very odd setup being in the pits like that, but the access looks pretty amazing.

I think Silverstone has done very well for the average punter. There was a time in the recent past where Silverstone offered some of the worst viewing of any circuit and I'd say today it's one of the better ones, if not the best.

There were never any grandstands where Escapade now is. It was built on an open grass space.

It must be totally crazy to be there in the pits watching the cars go past, while some of the world’s best caterers throw food and wine at you for three days!

But even so, $30k a head is mad. The Mexico location is the old podium on the main straight, which they’ve turned into VVIP hospitality.

Oh, and you still don’t get to be on the grid walk, it’s amazingly still impossible to buy tickets for that. You’d think they’d sell a handful for big money, but it’s not happened yet.

There are a couple of "money can't buy" tickets in F1 land - one is the grid pass like you say, the other is the carbon fibre season pass which gets you and one other access to every single race in 2026 including flights and accomodation. I can't even begin to imagine what the price of that would be if it was actually available to buy.

A few years ago there was an African couple that became famous for doing the whole season in the Paddock Club. They’d just sold their business and were doing the trip of a lifetime. They were always really flamboyantly dressed in traditional rich African garb, and a few of the media found them.

Someone worked out that you re looking at the best part of a million dollars to do that for two of you, assuming biz class flights and decent hotels, all of which would be at the top peak rate. $30-40k an event on average.

We are all anonymous here; posting for 'attention' would be pointless. I included the various costs from the weekend because I thought it might be helpful to others considering a similar trip. I thought it was surprisingly good value, given how much the F1 weekend there costs. In fact, I originally investigated Escapade only out of curiosity, not believing for a moment that it would be something we'd be in a position to do.


As has been discussed, six people can stay in that apartment. Doing this outside of an F1 weekend is good value, and that view is something that no one will ever forget.

Funny, isn't it, how different people view things? TBH, my monthly income isn't much more than the poster above, and I will never be staying at Silverstone, but his viewpoint didn't even enter my head. I just thought it was interesting reading.

There are plenty of things that people spend a lot of money on that hold no appeal to me at all. But an apartment with a view of a motor racing circuit on a forum for supposed car enthusiasts? It wouldn't be on my list for criticism. The only surprise to me (apart from the cost to hire for the GP weekend, obviously!) was that it doesn't have a proper oven. But I guess they're expecting most people to eat out.

And accusing you of being a 'look at me' poster is ridiculous.

Excellent post by the OP, found it a very interesting read.

I'd be interested to know more about how the ownership of them went. I got the impression you could buy the leasehold but then they rented it out for you. So what happened if you wanted to stay in it yourself?

They are all very long leasehold and you get a fixed number of occupation days per year - and for events like the F1 an actual day is worth more of your free days (so the a 4 day weekend over could use 16 of your occupation days for instance), Not really an issue for the owners I ve met as they are mostly there just for the F1 anyway and the friend I know who owns one is more than happy for us to use it when he s not as he lives abroad. Escapade then also rent the properties out for other guests, corporate events etc. but not sure whether the reality for returns on that is 100% meeting the early indications.

It’s designated commercial leasehold property so you’re not actually allowed to live there, you choose your visit dates and the hotel will rent it for you when you’re not there. There’s no ongoing service charges and you can sell up at any time.

I guess there will be some owners who only ever go for the F1, and others who go almost every weekend. It would be interesting to see how busy it gets on regular days without a large spectator event? There’s always things going on around the place with various businesses based near the circuit, track days, test days, and the function rooms of The Wing keep pretty busy with conferences and events.
