Chris
Cheers Chris, I was a bit gutted tbh, there was an even better composed shot of you one shot before that, but the shutter jammed for a moment so it was destroyed! (when I say this camera is broken, it's actually been written off, it's fubar)

A massive thanks to pistonheads, Dunlop and beauliue for organising a lovely ss. Was a lovely drive there and back through the new Forrest. I was in my black mk2 golf vr6. I also thought the free warm drinks was a very nice touch too.

Thanks to Dunlop, Beaulieu and the Pistonheads team. It was a good run down in the Griff, and a fun place to walk around, with the Top Gear and James Bond exhibitions.

thanks for a great day, worth the 320 mile round trip once we took in a trip to the beach afterwards too (being that close to the sea is a real novelty to us Midlanders!)

The Ultima was the star car outside I think, just stunning in every way. My boys wanted us to stay until it started up but there was no site of Ult-Jim when we needed to make a move. They loved the toy car on the dash too!

The museum was a real mixture of stuff, but because we bypassed the entrance building on the way in I realised about 30 mins after leaving there might have been more stuff in there (I glanced an Esprit as we drove out) we also missed the gift shop, which with a 6 and 4 year old (and me!) was probably not a bad thing for the state of the wallet. Going to have to get them into Bond films now so they can appreciate what they saw...

Seeing just how nice that XJS that TG ruined in their India episode was before they wrecked it really did make me hate Top Gear all over again (I stopped watching it for ages after that episode because it was highly boring anyway but also because they butchered 3 really nice pistonheads type cars that many would made some major sacrifices to own and cherish). That otherwise almost mint XJS and its 4 litre engine could have been cherished and still be getting admiring glances outside rather than half cut up and rotting in a mouldy tent.

The monorail was a bit odd too, everything is close enough not to need it and it isn't the most attractive thing to look at.

We both really enjoyed the day, thank you Dunlop and all who were involved, a good advert for the brand, learnt a bit more about their range.
The 911s immobiliser refused to allow me to start the car, so bought the wifes red Boxster instead.

What a nice morning that was! Always loved coming to Beaulieu & decided I had to be there no matter what! Just like the last one.

We almost got turned away for a second but thankfully we were allowed in! Once there the variety there was a great as ever. A track ready MK2 Golf, at least 4 Noble M12's, an R32 Skyline GTR next to a 458 Spider, Gallardo LP550-2, Corvette ZO6, TVR Tuscan & Mercedes SLS all parked next to each other as well as the sight of a rather crazy Mugen tuned Honda CRZ that caught my eye too...

The museum was as great as ever, the staff were as friendly as always (especially the head photographer who turned up in his beloved 993 911) & I rather enjoyed the music Dunlop played too...

As also met a few PHers too! Flying Pig, Moycie & one or two others who I also met (one the owner of the R32 Skyline, the other the Gallardo owner), it's a pleasure to meet you all & you're wonderful cars too.

Only disappointment was not seeing Garlick for more then 10 seconds! Maybe next time.

As for pics? All here! http://www.flickr.com/photos/59166814@N02/sets/721...

I will be back for the Goodwood SS if I can get my name in quick enough.

Rob

Yes, a great day out, and most excellent value - thanks to all the arrangers smile

As others have said, only "issue" was the lack of bacon butties (or, in fact, anything cooked!).

Re the Top Gear stuff: I see others thought it rubbish but I thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing. Very funny.

Did you not venture into the Brabazon restaurant located right alongside the parking area?

They had more cooked food than you could shake a stick at, along with cold food and hot'n'cold beverages. smileburger

Beaulieu are proud to offer a full range of fresh, homemade produce in the Brabazon Restaurant. The restaurant has 400 seats both indoor and on covered terraces. The restaurant offers light meals, coffees and teas and homemade lunches from our hot kitchen. We open from 10am every day except Christmas day.

Our Head Chef Jane Bell and the Estate Garden Team work together to grow and select the freshest seasonal ingredients to create high quality fresh food. We are confident that you won't find homemade dishes such as Beaulieu leek and chicken pie, home baked gammon with Beaulieu parsley sauce or Beaulieu parsnip soup at any similar visitor attraction. Even our daily fresh vegetable side dishes are sourced from Lord Montagu's gardener, Kelvin Yapp, and include parsnips, leeks, broad beans, courgettes and potatoes.

Jeremy, yes saw that - they only opened that late morning. For the early arrivals there were only cold sarnies and pastries - or so I thought?
