RE: Sunday Service 23/02/14: Vulcan XH558

A few photos from 'after' the event.
A big thank you to the enthusiastic volunteers from the Vulcan Trust who took time to explain and show us the plane...it is a truly amazing piece of machinery, even if 1952 was its first flight. It is testament of great British engineering. Apparently, they will 'fly by' on the way to/from events for about £5k if requested - that's how to try impress your friends and possibly p**s your neighbours off (if they don't like noise)

+1 Spitfires were still in service when this first flew. Four years later the Vulcan went into service itself, complete with a load of tech that would've been unthinkable just a few short years before. Incredible.
Where has the progress gone? How long does it take to design and test an aircraft nowadays? - Look at the F35; at this rate it'll be obsolete before we've even started using them!
Awesome day! I just want to echo the thanks to the volunteers. Andy took us around and he was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic it was brilliant! So good to get up close to het like that, felt very privileged. Cheers PH for this one too! It's not often the likes of Diablos, Nobles and Mustangs play second fiddle!
Long drive there and back, but made extremely more enjoyable by the chance encounters of fellow PHers on the way over and back. Great fun (I was in the blue 350Z).

Good day that, lane discipline can get rather annoying when spending that long on motorways in a day!
A huge thanks to the whole Vulcan to the sky team, fascinating and was great to see the names in the bomb bay up close (my girlfriends is there after a minor cock up with a gift she got for me a few years ago).
Can't wait to see XH558 fly again at some point in the summer.
ETA: I took some pics and they're here in case anyone didn't take enough of their own: http://www.flickr.com/photos/no-nuts/sets/72157641...
This being my favourite, great view:

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the day. I've had some great news from them
“It was a brilliant day, and great to see everyone,” says Vulcan PR Richard Gotch. “Thanks to PH readers, we raised close to £4,000 to help fund the check flight that will confirm she is ready for the new display season.” Readers can also keep up-to-date with XH558 on our Facebook page – Vulcan XH558."
A big thank you to all that attended.

I can only echo what's been said. A great morning out. The tour was brilliant. It was a privilege to get that close to xh558. The volunteers were a very friendly and very knowledgeable bunch.
All that plus some tasty cars in the car park made for a very good morning. - the bacon butty even helped ease the hangover c
