My thanks also to all at PH and Aston Martin for putting on another great event. Who arranged the weather - brilliant recovery from the misery of yesterday. Breakfast was great and very reasonable (near half the price of Santa Pod!), lots to admire all around the car park, and very enthusiastic staff about as well. Enjoyed a quick blast in the Gran Turismo pods! Loved the immaculate pair of 205 GTIs, all credit due for bringing those out to share. Nice to see some petrol Alpinas too. My car just makes an appearance in a photo in the posts above, albeit the limelight is most firmly stolen by my companion's much more interesting Lotus, and rightly so.

The bottom photo was taken when I first spotted this Marcos Mantula earlier this month on the M40 (I'd never seen one before). The top two were taken when I was lucky enough to see it again today at the Aston Martin Sunday Service. This is why I love Piston Heads!
The Marcos passed me on the M40 as I was turning off at the M25 exit. Sounded and looked great.

Many thanks to PH for organising the event! thumbup

A little disappointed with the lack of access compared with the Rolls Royce SS I went to, especially given the requirement for a non-disclosure agreement - we hardly saw anything that isn't already in the public domain!

Still like others we made a quick detour into the Gaydon Museum to marvel at some BL prototype madness after we left! Well worth the visit; some lovely Jaguars in the overflow area - the unpainted polished aluminium XJR was stunning! The Longbridge tunnel Metro hilarious! And plenty in between.

All in all a great day out - thanks once again to PH!

+1. If it hadn't been billed as a "Factory Tour" I would have no gripe whatsoever. I appreciate its a free event e.t.c but After Ginetta's factory tour this was a massive let down and I'd probably have saved the 2.5 hour journey.

Fortunately the Trip to the Motor museum afterwards made it worthwhile.

E.t.a It wasn't billed as a factory tour but a "behind the scenes look at where a how they are made". Close enough.

As far I could tell, it was never billed as a factory tour. I imagine that some may have optimistically interpreted the following line from the article:

PH said:
Those attending will have the good fortune to see these new Astons as well as get a behind-the-scenes look at where and how they are made.
In terms of 'how they are made', there seemed little to speak of. At no point did the word 'tour' or guide, or anything similar feature, however.

EDIT: Leptons edited their post whilst I was typing mine... nevermind.

You could always book and pay for a tour of the Aston Martin factory or you could gripe about being forced to turn up to a free event that may have some restrictions in place.

Thanks to PH & Aston Martin for putting the event together.

Loved seeing all the cars & even those in the car park but by the time we came back out half the people had gone!

I too had some expectations after reading the "behind the scenes look at where a how they are made" & was expecting to see something more than the models in the entrance & the clay models.

Didn't get to go the museum afterwards due to time constraints though. But the nephews had a blast & there were some awesome cars out there, loved the 2 alpinas.

Will upload photos at some point.

To the owner of a black Aston Martin reg: CN07 CZM Check the front of your car - I witnessed an utter prick (in an AM convertible that was parked next to yours) reverse into your car and then drive off knowing full well he had hit it. There was a fairly loud crack - I think (hope) it was just the numberplate surround. This was around 11 am.
My son and I also witnessed this, they knew what they'd done but still drove away. Tried to get a pic of the culprit but wasn't quick enough!

I also went expecting a little bit more of a similar look around, like at the recent Morgan SS.

I can't see anything to complain about though. Fantastic day out, and I always find the cars that turn up the most interesting part of a Sunday Service.

Thanks to PH and AM for Yesterday really enjoyed it. Great range of cars and lots of Colour full Astons

To people saying they did not seen much behind-the-scenes . Iv been on a factory tour as guests of a customers and you are not taken in to the design part of the factory where the DBX was let alone in to the studio part with the Zagato in it !

So massive thanks to Aston for letting us see the clay for the new Zagato in an environment not many people would get to see in.

Also witnessed this with MGR. The number plate bracket of the damaged car is cracked. Could have been worse, but I imagine it's not a cheap part from Aston Martin.

Behave. You know full well what I mean. If cost was an issue I'd happily pay towards the tour element. No one forced me turn up and I've already noted that it's a free event. I just think it was billed as something it wasn't, fuelled by signing a Disclaimer, and I wasn't the only one. Perhaps we've been spoilt by the likes of Ginetta, Morgan E.t.c as they've set the bar so high.

On the plus side, what a canteen! If I worked there I'd be really fat! hehe

Great to see so many of you yesterday and some wonderful cars being brought along.
After each Sunday Service we nominate five cars to be put forward for Best in Show which ultimately will be voted for a decided by you.

P.S ....Its only a bit of fun so please don't be too disheartened if your car isn't mentioned

Thank you vey much for letting me know, someone very kindly re-posted your message about it on the Aston Martin forum. Luckily enough it looks like it is just a broken number plate plinth which took the impact.

As I said on the other forum I would like to think that whoever did it, did so unknowingly and didn't realise as accidents do happen and I wouldn't want to start a 'Witch Hunt' as hopefully they will do the decent thing and step forward!

Many Thanks

Dave

Another great morning and really well organised as always. I'm hoping that I held on to the "fastest time of the day" award on the GT simulator at Silverstone but who knows.

Shame to hear about the bad driving on exit... didn't see anything untoward myself but it only takes one. Hope it doesn't happen again for you guys.
