Unfortunately, the speculation is correct and we have just received confirmation from Silverstone that this weekend will be cancelled. As the pictures show in the Silverstone thread, the snow is now getting onto the circuit and there is difficulty getting to and from the circuit. Staff are also being sent home early today to avoid the worst hopefully.
Statement below from Silverstone;
"Due to the current UK weather conditions, the decision has been made the cancel the Piston Heads Sunday Service and Silverstone Track Day Taster.
We want to ensure that any visitors to Silverstone arrive safely and enjoy the excitement of the National Circuit, which isn’t possible at this time. We are currently exploring an alternate date to run and will confirm a new date next week. We will contact all drivers via email and follow up with a telephone call.
Please contact either Matt on 01327 320409 or Natalie on 01327 320267 if you do have any questions. Please be advised that the Silverstone office will be closing from 12:30pm on Friday 2nd March due to the weather conditions.
We do apologise for any inconvenience caused. May we take this oppertunity to thank you for your patience and look forward to welcoming you to the circuit on a future date.

The alternate date...
We are proposing bank holiday Monday 2nd April to take Sundays place; let us know your thoughts and get voting please.
To be honest, we think it's a great alternative (and a fun way to end a bank holiday weekend), plus the weather should, hopefully, be much better!

Not that’d be entirely fair, as a lot of people won’t have signed up to the original date if they were busy, but may well be free for 2nd April.
That might be true, but also what of those who signed up for the current date and might miss out by those who sign up for the new one?Swings and round abouts i suppose.
Silverstone called me as I had a track session book originally kept my name on list but removed last night.So if the same list remains and people who took name off due to conditions miss out seems a bit crackers as I have booked a track slot.And previous list comments suggest that of you booked a track slot but didn't make it in the 500 it wouldn't matter due to you booking track time.

The same could also be said for those who work some weekends but not all and it's already been said that if you can't make the new date, a refund can be issued. Pistonheads are never going to be able to please everyone with a new date that's available in the Silverstone Calendar but I'm hoping I'll be able to move stuff around to make it work.Great work there! I work weekends too, but seeing as when I spoke to Silverstone earlier I was told that I couldn't get a refund, I'm left in the position of either taking the BH off and missing out on double pay in order to get my track time in, or writing off the track time I've paid for so that I can go to work. When SS are released, I know that there is a chance of to being able to attend due to work. To have it (understandably) cancelled, and then a poll of one alternative date (rather than giving a couple of dates and seeing what works for most people) is a bit frustrating!
