What a great Sunday Service! Really enjoyed the tour, and great to see some different cars out.

I've put all of my photos here...

With a few highlights here...

Thanks all. Good bacon sandwiches and coffee and a nice day out.

A nice blue TVR Griffith followed me there. If you're reading, I was in front of you for quite a while in the black Astra

Thanks to all for a great day despite the weather!

The tour could easily have spent twice as long in the museum (and half as long in the gift shop!) but it was still well worth it!

Highlight of the day for me was the family who rolled up in a his'n'hers Camaro ZL1 and bright purple Challenger. Life goals!!!! bow

The other thing I liked about today was that, in amongst the supercars, was a healthy selection of "when did you last see one of those?!" cars that used to be everyday fare - such as a Fiat Uno Turbo, an XR3i Escort and a Sierra GL, all in mint condition too smile

I dont suppose anyone got any arty photos of my Jeep (grey Commander Hemi) perchance?

I think the tour could have benefitted from a guide who didn’t keep making his political allegiance quite so clear.

Was good to meet you CC. Agree on your comments about the cars you rarely see anymore.

Excellent day out! Our tour guide (George) was brilliant, he had worked for the company for 42 years, remembered the founder fondly and clearly had great pride and affection for the company and knew his stuff!

Agree with the comments about the guy with the Lambo, absolutely top guy. I was chatting to him for some time along with a group of others - he was happy for people to get in and have pics taken(must admit I didn’t as I was a bit worried I would scratch it!!!) and wasn’t precious about it at all even though he only got it in May! He was saying he drove it was much as possible, and his other cars were a Mini Cooper and a Smart! Seemed a proper enthusiast.

Also chatted to the Guy who had the AMR and Ferrari who was a proper down to earth enthusiast too, who happily let a young boy in for his photo to be taken in the Ferrari and chatted about the AMR.

Really good morning out. Thanks to everyone at JCB and Pistonheads for giving up their Sundays to organise.

Hi there,

First Sunday Service I have been to, and it won't be my last. Ideal for me as only 10 mins from home which was handy given my car was only finished at 3pm yesterday eek

Weather made it interesting but the drive there and home was at least a few more miles towards the 500 mile run in target.

Thanks very much all involved for hosting this Sunday service. Had a good morning looking at some nice cars and thanks for those that offered a sit in there cars for my mates lad ( Lambo and the F type with carbon wheels in particular). We had a good drive there and a fun drive back in my Green E46 M3. Special note to the Cooper S (Turbo) as that went well. Also to the v8 vantage and white F type convertible on the way home.

Many thanks Pistonheads and JCB for the Sunday Service. Was a really good event. The tour was excellent, loads of info and plenty of time spent in the museum. Great selection of cars although I didn't think there was the expected amount of cars.

Hi

I just wanted to add my thanks to JCB for hosting us, ALA for the drinks and Pistonheads for organising a top morning out.

Plus that was one of the best bacon sandwiches I have had for a long time.

The tour was interesting and the enthusiasm and respect for the Bamford family was passionate.

All in all an excellent Sunday Service, well worth the drive with an interesting array of cars in the car park as well.

Thanks

Annoying, isn't it? When you try to take a photo of a stunning Astra SRi Turbo 200 but some other car gets in the way wink

I'm the lucky chap with Aventador and thank you for the very kind post. Yesterday was my first Sunday Service and what a fantastic morning it was. Superb venue, bacon butties, free coffee and brilliantly eclectic mix of metal! Highlight was the tour and then chatting afterwards with JCB employees, young and old, whose passion, commitment and pride was an absolute joy to behold. Thanks for a top day out

We certainly did thank you, didn't survive long in the office! And thank you to everyone for coming out, despite the drizzle early on it was really enjoyable and hopefully one we'll run again in the future.

We raised £600 from the tours which has been split between our charity, Mission Motorsport and NSPCC for JCB. So thank you to everyone who took part thumbup

We'll be back in the area (kind of) on the 3rd of November at Donington Park with Bookatrack, running track sessions all day. Hopefully see some of you there!

Hi there,

If you mean the grey/yellow one above, that would be mine.

I am long overdue putting together a readers cars thread but here are the basics.

Car is a GBS Zero ( http://www.greatbritishsportscars.co.uk/our-cars/ )

I purchased a kit from them in September 2016 and have spent the last 18 months or so putting it together. Before buying it I spent many months researching Caterham, Westfield and all other Lotus 7 type cars. I came to the conclusion that with Caterham I was mainly paying for a name and the engineering on Westfield wasn't up to the quality offered by GBS.

The car was built with all new parts, and as such was registered in July 2018 as a brand new GBS Zero.

The colour is Lamborghini Grigio Telesto with a stripe and nose cone band that is colour matched to the wheels.

All the running gear (engine, gearbox etc) is Ford. The engine is a brand new Ford Zetec 2.0 16V and has been treated to a nice set of throttle bodies so should be good for 180bhp.

The dash is carbon fibre with a Race Technologies Dash 2 Pro unit, all controls (indicators etc) are steering wheel mounted with a Summit Technologies switch unit and receiver.

The car was built by me at home with the factory checking over the build before painting it and sending it for its IVA test.

In terms of budget it was around £28K but a similar spec Caterham would have been around £35k as a self build kit.

It was built to be as stripped out as possible and as such runs GRP seats, carbon fly screen and carbon fibre stone guards, sill covers etc. This gives is a weight of around 550kg which should give me a 0-60 time of around 4.5 secs.

Glad you like it.
