Motorhome Camping
Discussion
Hi.
According to this link I was reading the other day motorhomes have to be under 11m long to go on most of the campsites or maybe under 2m high. The key's a bit confusing! The pitches however are 7m x 5m. Generally if you have enough pitches to cover the size you get away with any motorhome that's not a bus!

We take a 7m motorhome and once we wind out our canopy we fit a 7 x 5m space perfectly. However it's best to have an unnumbered / unallocated pitch as then you can choose the best available on arrival and try to ensure to get there as early as possible in the week to have the best choice. Some pitches have a tree in the middle or a bush or a standpipe or a stump or a lump of concrete or a lighting post or a pole or la singe est dans l'arbre!

We are taking a 6.3 x 2.3 x 2.9 motorhome this year and have done in previous years too. We've also been in huge Fleetwood RV (which is so big it has to use the freight lane at the Dartford crossing!)
Apart from needing to avoid the low bridge by the Stella bar in the RV, we've never had any issues. We always camp at Houx Annexe so assume it is the same for the other ACO sites.
Just make sure you have enough pitches and check with your ticket agent about the positioning of the pitch.
Might be different for private sites though, I think we would just about fit on the Thomas Cook site, for instance.

If this is part of a longer trip has he got a small car towed behind?
Saw a motor home today with a Smart behind.
If so there are plenty of sites off circuit which would be quieter and much cheaper.
Just get an Expo numbered parking place and you can come and go as you please.
Just an idea.

Leyorkie helped me book a site that is very near to the circuit (walking distance) that is mainly motorhomes. If you want details post on here and I'll exchange messages - I'm there in April giving the owner pictures of our requirements for Le Mans (he doesn't speak English), so could add you. There is no upfront payment, its cash on arrival and very reasonable (tent is 100 Euros per tent for 4 nights). It's quiet too, fantastic.
