Bicester Heritage Sunday Service 05/01

Kick-start 2020 properly with a visit to the home of historic motoring for PH's January Sunday Service

With our final Sunday Service of the year done and dusted, it’s time to start thinking about what the new year is going to bring us. We’re hoping for fortune, continued happiness and good health – one thing we can confirm without doubt, though, is that there will be a Sunday Scramble on the Sunday Service calendar... So on the 5th January 2020 we’ll be heading back to the famous Bicester Heritage centre for a morning of eclectic cars, with some wonderful planes chucked in for good measure.

Those that have visited Bicester Heritage will know what a special venue it is. For those that have yet to make their first trip to what is often referred to as the home of historic motoring, you’ll be greeted by a plethora of 1920s RAF buildings, as well as over 40 specialist motoring businesses showcasing what they do in various showrooms and workshops. The mixture of cars that the clubs and visitors bring along on each meet is astonishing – last year there was everything from 80s F1 cars to classic rally machines, including the Lancia Stratos and Mk1 Ford Escort Mexico, all the way over to pre-war, wooden-wheeled Ford Model Ts.

If you’re a classic plane enthusiast as well as a car enthusiast, then you’re in luck as Finest Hour will be offering Tiger Moth experiences on the day. The experience will cost you £209 for a 20-minute flight in the vintage aircraft, which also includes entry to the event for two people. If there’s a better way to see the best-preserved WW2 Bomber Station in the UK, please let us know, but we’ve got a feeling you’ll be out of luck.

We’ve managed to secure a space for 150 cars at the event, and we also have a 50 per cent off code for all PH members attending the event. The discount code is “TinMossie” and you will need to enter this code where it says “enter promo code” at the top of the page when you click to buy tickets. You’ll need to sign up to our calendar to park in our members area and use the discount code. You will not be able to attend the event without buying a ticket.

Get yourself signed up to our calendar here, and buy your event tickets here - but be quick as space and tickets are limited!

We’ve booked to come along in our Defender TD5.

It’s a grand day out for Pistonheads!

Also out of curiosity why is this post in General Gassing and not Sunday Service, or even Events?

I only found it because it was on my face book feed, even then it was a nightmare to actually find because of all the forced log out issues, meaning you can’t log in when going from the Facebook page link.

It should be noted that there is nowhere in that link to apply a discount code either. Certainly not on the Bicester or Eventbrite website(s)

It’s actually really weird!

If you browse to the main page, and then general gassing, this thread is no where to be found?

And if you then say, OK then it is a Sunday Service, must be in the Sunday Service section.

But nope!

Put the discount code in on the first page where the options are on the Eventbrite page and it unlocks a PH option - it wasn’t obvious how to do it but I persisted!

I've already got 'Modern' (post 89) tickets for the Sunday Scamble on the 5th. Can I park in the Pistonheads area with these or does this have to be tickets purchased with the PH code?

I've added my details to the list, but can remove this again if not allowed.....

Sorry about the not very obvious promo button - it's pretty well hidden, I'll feed back to Bicester.

Also another sorry for the thread not being in Sunday Services, not sure why it went to GG! I've put it in it's rightful place.

Yes if you've already bought tickets, you can join us if you're on our "going" list smile

No there shouldn't be, it's working fine for me! Are you getting any error messages when you try to add yourself?

Anybody else having trouble buying?

I put in the code, enter all my details but when I click proceed it doesn't seem to want to move forward

Are you getting any error messages bobski? Or is it just not proceeding?

Let me know and I'll ask Bicester for some guidance.

Just not processing, the proceed button just becomes a loading icon and doesn't go beyond it.

Is that the "checkout" button that takes you to the card details page, or the "place order" button that you click after you've entered your payment details? It all seems to be working for me, so just trying to figure out exactly where it's falling over for you.

Everyone likes a discount, and it was promised but not obviously deliverable (no code box at checkout) missed the promo code at the start as I assumed it was for classic or early flight tickets ...ticket booked anyway at £12, but now I feel slightly cheated, especially as I doubt that they offer refunds, if late cancellation is required which we all know sometimes happens when old car travel and January weather is concerned. Well done to those that persisted in working it out, I should have checked the forum first.
