Would you do that in a shop?

No because you've not got the protection of a car around you.

If you were in the shop and went to the front and a dozen folks told you to get to the back of the que then i'm sure you'd just turn around and join the back of the que, probably with a red face.

I've no objection to anyone waiting until the end and joining the flow of traffic whilst the traffic is flowing freely but when the traffic is stood and there is a que it's normally because someone/several drivers have bullied their way to the front and caused the traffic to acctually stop, have you noticed once you get to the coned off part, you'll be flowing again?
Bad analogy. The idea is that two rows of traffic are moving along side by side and they just merge one after the other into one lane. The problem is caused by people breaking that chain by merging into the other lane early. This then causes the 'order' to be messed up and results in 'barging in'. Oh, and people braking doesn't help either. If everyone kept a constant speed they could all merge into one lane easy. Ok, you'd have to be doing 45 on the approach to the merge and then accelerate to 60 once merged to keep the merge point clear...

Sometimes I long for computer controlled cars so the A to B's can get where they are going without clogging the roads, and the DG's can blart along at leptons having loads of fun (speed cameras having become un-cost-effective to run as computer cars never speed, and computer cars would be 95% of cars)...

No it happens all the time tbh. Drive on a motorway or dual carriageway and you'll see it. i understand the overtaking even though there is barely any speed difference so how much time they are saving by doing this is pretty small at best and negated by a toilet stop anyway.

But when the lorry being overtaken doesn't back off the gas a bit to let the other through quicker and then make up the speed lost from the slipstream from the lorry as it pulls back in i don't uderstand.

This taking an age to overtake thing then forces the dawdlers on cruise control at 60 into the outside lane as they then crawl past the lorry.
I used to be a trucker myself and can tell you there is no slip streaming going on. The speed of the trucks isn't altered one iota by draft, wind, gas or whatever.

What you might be seeing is the overtakee easing off a bit to allow the overtaker past, although it seems you think you don't see this.

Rubbish, their must be a fraction differance inbetween trucks.

No techknowledgy will make every truck exactly 100% the same speed.

Being 20, and then buying a 12 plate Corsa on finance, only to ruin it by chavving it up. Then boasting about how you are 20 and have a 12 plate box of st.

That my friends, makes me think mega super king of the knobs.

Emptying the freezers at work today at 4:01 (store shuts at 4 but people still allowed to make purchases)
Have to empty the freezers for cleaning around once or twice a year.

We had spent hours emptying the whole isle, leaving a small number of items so people could still purchase, store shuts, remove remaining items.

Guy comes up to me with an attitude on him straight away
Man:"Oh so what i cant get my vegetarian food anymore!?"
Me:"Iv just taken it off the shelf for the freezer clean, although if you tell me what your after il look through this box no problem"
Man"well i dont want it if its no good do i!?"
Me:"The products arnt being removed because they are no good, we are doing the freezer clean this evening while the store is shut, what was it you were after?"
Man"Well i dont see the point in that!? Anyway i was looking for vegetation bacon"
Mefrownenquire which brand he was after, locates the exact product he described to me after quickly searching through the box)
Man: "Yeah thats the one, doesnt matter anymore" (walks off mumbling to himself)

Doesnt sound like much now its wrote down but wasnt best pleased at the time.

pfft

People who's cars are either

A) Small, with massive exhausts
B) Reverse Raked
C) Bright pink or orange (Lamborghini exception)
And lastly...
Those knobs who sit in the middle lane on the motorway! Why must you do this!

People who bh about other peoples car choices without listing what they drive on their profile.

People who join car forums and then ask for tips on how to get the best mileage from a diesel econohatch because that is what being an enthusiast is all about.

That can't be good for rear visibility.

Seems like a total knob, but still less so than the "I'm so manly I don't care about the environment"-lets-go-rev-past-him-wk-fantasy brigade.

My understanding is that a Prius is hardly what you'd call 'green' anyway? Lugging all those batteries around in a car who's carbon footprint isn't exactly small from the get go.

yes, they will be slightly different. Neither wants to lift off, being the problem. I guess if you were driving a billion miles a year then it would make you lazy or less keen to have to think. Too busy cleaning the prostitute murdering tools with one hand on the wheel!

No offence intended, just really p#sses me off!

Also, people who have a minor shunt on a busy road then insist on leaving their cars there to block the road while they chat about their inadequate driving and sometimes even call the emergany services!

Man up, remove your crummy hatchbacks and move on, double, waste of life knobs!

But we aren't in a shop are we? But let's go with your analogy....

If there was enough room for people to queue side by side, thus reducing the need to crowd the aisles and there was a big bloody sign saying queue side by side and merge in turn at the till, then yes I bloody well would!

The issue is small minded people who upon seeing a reduction in lane capacity 1/2 mile up the road move over to the left far far too early, what they should do is continue up to the obstruction and merge in turn, but no they cause a bloody long queue then bh that other people don't share their mentality.
