Just to double check my figures, please could someone work out the following for me please?

The cost in pounds and pence of a petrol car, doing 32mpg, to cover 350 miles with a petrol cost of 134.9p a litre.

And; the cost of a diesel car, doing 52mpg, to cover 350 miles with a diesel cost of 140.9p a litre.

Ta smile

350 miles @ 32mpg is 10.9375 gallons.
1 gallon is 4.546 litres.
(4.546 x 1.349) x 10.9375
£67.07

350 miles @ 52 mpg is 6.73 gallons.
(4.546 x 1.409) x 6.73
£43.10

HTH

ETA you bastids biggrin

350/32 = How many gallons of fuel will be used = 10.9375

10.9375*4.55 = How many litres of fuel will be used = 49.765625

49.765625*1.349 = Cost = £67.13

Gotcha, guys wink

Ah, but don't forget the key word in that sentence - buying a diesel. That's a lot of 350-mile trips at a difference of £24 a time to justify the purchase..

At least, that's what I try telling myself biggrin
