FFS, if you're going to do it then do it with a proper V8 like the LS7, not the wky LS1
  • Cough
The LS7 isn't everything (thought the cylinder heads are Vgood).

The car has a cammed ls2, not a bog standard ls1, builder has plans to put turbos in at some point.

Was trying to resist posting but too hard.

For starter who by a Tiptronic 911 Turbo - Ok this is Porker fault to make then for mostly the yank market (that can't grasp gear changing at the best of times).

On the LS1 swap. No idea if it will work, but it will need at least a blower to get an LS1 (~340bhp but much better torque than most 911 lumps though maybe not he Turbo) up to say 450+. I'd have gone for an LS6 or 2 as the lowerest spec for this and preferably a grunty LS3 or the admittedly pretty expensive (even second hand in the States) LS7.

Not seen the vids - but from the comments does not sound promising. Let hope their build skills are better than there Donutting!

Cant comment on the car itself as the guys video editing skills leave a lot to be desired.... first clip shows several minutes footage of an empty yard, next one shows the car apparently hit a tree after a couple of donuts!

Interesting idea, I applaud the guys mechanical and engineering skills. Makes up for 3 utterly s***e videos and abysmal attempts at doing a donut.

Do you have the weight difference to hand? I was under the impression the LS1 is pretty light.
No but I assumed the V8 would be much heavier. Happy to be proven wrong though. And in which case, that'd be good news for the car's handling.
Why do you think a single cam OHV all alloy V8 will be much heavier? Are you including the turbos and intercooler and oil system off the Porsche turbo too, it's all weight that the LS1 won't need.
As I said, I assumed, and quite wrongly, it would appear!

Yo could straight away it wasn't a normal 911, when it actually sounded nice.

I can see why some prefer the American V8 rumble, especially when compared to the muted sound of a 911 turbo but I'll take the howl of a n/a flat six over both every time. Especially when it's an RSR variant cloud9

Yes but all the essential bits are titanium which makes upgrading it a damn sight cheaper.

Not at all. The guy has gone to the effort of taking/posting videos. For what purpose? biggrin
