I can see why some prefer the American V8 rumble, especially when compared to the muted sound of a 911 turbo but I'll take the howl of a n/a flat six over both every time. Especially when it's an RSR variant cloud9
I believe it was a 996 Turbo which kind of rules out the "n/a flat six howl" wink

This got a lot of low ratings on the PH meter, but I just love this kind of stuff. I love engine swaps, drivetrain swaps...the lot. I know that 911s are perfectly fine how they are and that putting a Chevy engine into one is a bit odd to say the least, but why not?

Know it’s a bit simplistic but lets do some maths here !!!

A 50k miles 2002 Corvette C5 LS1 Engine, 6 Speed Transmission and Loom from Pick-A-Part Cleveland, Ohio for £2,440 plus £500 for shipping, duty, VAT etc. + £60 fee to shipping company on collection from Dartford
TOTAL Cost £3,000

OR

A “Hardly” Used 966 Turbo Engine (photo) from http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/37352/porsch... from Budapest, Hungary for 15,000 Euro (£13,480) + 10k miles Porsche G96-50 Turbo Gearbox from http://www.race-cars.com/boxsales/other/1233022778... from Cutler Bay, Florida for $8,500 (£5,300) + shipping, duty, VAT etc. (let’s be generous and say just £1,220 wink)
TOTAL Cost £20,000

To be fitted into an Engine Fire damaged Porsche 996 Turbo
What’s it to be ???? wobble

I love it when people do this kind of stuff smile if the car was pretty much dead, (and I love the 911), then bully for him.

Anyone got a Noble M12 GTO3 engine I can have for my Mondeo estate?

You can get a turbo kit for the 3.0ltrs from the US. its a single turbo and some run upto about 400bhp. after that you would need to get a built bottom end (forged rods and pistons) to take much more power. The noble guys have problems with the 5speed gear boxes at much iover 400lbsft of torque. 6 speed sare much stronger but still need atention if you are pushing higher power.
