Am i right in saying that you couldn't get Recaro's with the 3dr?
There were very few option on the 'valvole - it had most stuff as standard. iirc the recaro's & abs were the only optional extras. The Tipo used to be a pretty common sight on the roads in the early 90's, yet I'd actually forgotten about them until I saw this.
At the Ford dealer I worked at, we'd often see Tipos and Unos come in as PX, and my chief memory is they always felt as quick, or quicker, than the equivalent model Ford with an engine 200cc bigger. Never had the opportunity to drive a Sedicivalvole, but the cooking models were very gutsy for their respective engine sizes.
I actually rather like this shed, and you just know an Italian twin cam four pot is going to deliver character and guts in spades. I seem to remember the reviews of the time being quite complementary too.

Italian language v English, mmm we have 1.5 million words in our dictionary and they have 250,000. Keats makes a good job of making it sound good. As for this shed, I only thought yesterday, in light of TR7 flack, that Fiat had made some very ordinary looking cars cars. I would probably like driving it but the design...
Not questioning the breadth of the English vocabulary, nor the abilities of Keats (other poets and writers are available), merely that Italian seems to make dull words sound exciting http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-FIAT-TIPO-16V-IE-WH...
Another nice one for under 1k I could really see myeself in one swapping french unreliability for italian

...To English ears, at least. Fiat teapot, a marmite car, love or hate. I always liked it, but didn't look as proper hot hatch as the Astra GSI, and the black bumpers kept it looking aged even the later 3 door didnt correct that issue. Performance wise for the period a comparable contender, nothing between it and the RS2000 of the time. It won or equalled the competitors in the numerous tests of the time, never really sold as it lacked the proper hot hatch look.
I bought one in 2001, ran fine only issues electrical, oil pressure sender, rear wipers, drivers door lock. Still got it but only for trackdays/racing use.

now THAT is a cool, unusual retro motor. I seem to remember a friend of mine owning a graphite 3-door one of these at some point, the dashboard looked like something Daft Punk would use in a video. Quick off the mark at traffic lights, sounded great revved, but never got to ride in it outside Central London so no real idea of its performance.
It's not the prettiest in refrigerator white but definitely a leftfield choice for a fun car. If it was working properly I'd pay the asking price. Assuming I had the money and somewhere to park it of course.

I`ve had loads of Fiats over the last 20 years & still have 6 in my collection, I`ve yet to have an unreliable one (I`ve had a number of unreliable BMW`s, Mercs & VW`s though), or had one that rusts any more than anything else comparable, as an enthusiastic driver I`ve loved every red-lined mile behind the wheel, right down to the 650cc 126, so I do struggle to get my head around some of the negative comments...

I miss my Panda.
Nice collection.
Panda`s are getting thin on the ground now, you`ve got your work cut out to find a good`n! Mine`s an 89 750L with 18k on the clock!Nice collection.
And cheers, I like them!
For the record, my Tempra (very closely related to the Tipo we`re commenting on) is a 2.0 twin cam(8v), its 95% original, has cost less than £400 in 17 years in non-maintainance repairs, I can count the electrical issues its had on 1 hand, the engine & geabox have never been touched (not even had a clutch yet), &... it still comfortably pulls 130mph!
I`m about to scrap it unfortunately, because I lent it to someone & its come back needing alot of work that isnt economically viable.
