I don't mind the exterior appearance of this but that interior looks incredibly cheap, just like a new style C-Class I recently sat in.

I went in an A6 avant sport the other day - and I have to say it does make the mercedes interiors (certainly C, E and CLS) look more like what you would expect from vauxhall! They really need to up their game in this area - and I think the facelifted C class is a big improvement on the last one - so there is hope !

That's what the dash reminds me of! Still looks like a taxi.
I would be quite happy smoking all and sundry with nearly 600 lb/ft from low revs in my "taxi". And if that didn't work I'd try the 600 bhp at the top end.And all the eco police will assume it's a 2.0 dag dag with bling wheels.
All-in-all having something like this that looks like a taxi is good.

I think it has one of the best interiors of any car on the market; what car do you think has a nicer interior than this in the same price bracket?....Actually, considering you mention the new C-Class, what in that price bracket would you consider nicer? Not having a dig, just genuinely interested.

E class wise - The A6 uses far better materials, the design is a little off but I would personally be insulted to pay Mercedes money for the plastics used in the car.Not having a dig, just genuinely interested.
Jumping on my Alfa bandwagon but the Alfa 159 which is close but cheaper than a C-Class was significantly better screwed together, more attractive and the quality of the plastics is night and day, the only cheap bits of plastic I could spot in day to day driving of the similar Brera was the centre console bin lid....that's it!.
Other cars such as the A4 are a massive step up in terms of build quality (personally never rated the new BMW 3 series for interior quality either but these new Merc's are closer to Vauxhall than Audi IMO).
The comparison above to a Vauxhall Astra is absolutely spot on in terms of build quality imo.

I know it's not very PH, but 28.8 mpg (if it can be believed) is nothing short of incredible for a 2 ton 550bhp supersaloon.
Claimed. As with all these mpg stats, i bet in the real world, when the car is actually moving and not stuck on a test bed, it does more like 23-34 at best.

Anyone who can (or tries) get 28mpg shouldnt have bothered spending the extra £35k over a diesel version.
A true (and useful) combined cycle should involve giving it beans for some for some of the time, unfortunately the official test never requires full power bursts.

Haha, in dreamland!
My pre LCI 535d with a remap averaged 28 mpg over the 15k miles I had it, and that was about 60% motorway driving too!
...and this'll average 0-60 in 4.4, ha ha. As fast as your 535 might be it's not in the same ball park as this.My pre LCI 535d with a remap averaged 28 mpg over the 15k miles I had it, and that was about 60% motorway driving too!
I was commenting that the 28.8mpg is in dreamland, as my old 535d (which is far less powerful and a diesel) only averaged 28.
I am well aware of the difference in performance having owned an E55 AMG a few years ago and currently a 911 turbo thanks!
