I hear the DVLA have relaxed the spacing rules now? My wife got pulled by a bored police man for having a space in the incorrect place. Can we have a plate with no spaces?

Has it happened? The DFT were doing a consultaion over the summer but I haven't heard any official updates. Any links/updates appreciated.

i did hear they were in talks of it and believe that yesterday they did relax the rules. also did i hear hear correctly about screw fixing bolts being allowed as something to do with having to be properly secured??? happy to be corrected

Nothing has changed recently about the spacing of number plates.
Rules still apply despite the comment made in the Sunday Times earlier in the year.

Thats not true at all - your plates do need to be properly secured but they don't need to be done so using a wrongly coloured stud. You would have absolutely no argument on that front as they will simply say you should have used a yellow stud, not a black one.

was only relaying what i thought i heard/read (it was actually in the chav thread) personally my plate is held on with the screw bolts in the corner of the plate for a 'cleaner' look smile
