Now before everyone dives in, yes my kids go to private schools and I make no apologies for that. But even I have been surprised at the quality of motors outside the gates of my youngest new school over the last 2 days.

Today’s selection has included a brand new Aston DBS, Maserati Gran Turismo, Two newish Conti GT's, Porsche GT2, with full cage (nice) and a Ferrari California. All apart from the Porsche were driven by petite but wonderfully turned out yummy mummies. We also had the usual selection of RR Vogue's, no Sports strangely and Merc convertibles all in black.

I thought we were in a recession???

As was to be expected the quality of parking was atrocious.

I felt terribly under dressed as I was wearing my biking gear; I leave the car at the station and cycle home each day.

What’s been your new school car experience?

So you either a) live at the station, or b) leave a car permanently at your local station, or c) have a minion deliver your car home to you each evening?

You are bonkers fking mental chap.

At the local school, people turn up in ten year old Nissans. Is the playground at your school made of gold?

The school I went to age 16-18 was a fee-paying school...similar experience. Mainly boarders so only a few times a term would there be a deluge of nice cars. As you describe. Plus a helicopter or two.

Our local school bans cars within a good 500m radius which is how it should be.

Obviously parents there can't afford flash cars as they don't sell drugs... wink

No, the recession ended in June 2009.

Picking up my 18 year old 6th former GF in my dad's ratty old E36 318i, banging her over the bonnet in a layby on a country road, and then dropping her back before anybody noticed she'd gone missing. Might have been some Porsches driving past, but I didn't notice. Might have seen some private jets too, as it was quite near Stansted.

Edited to add that I was 21 at the time. wink

Rich people aren't and never were. They use the middle class to take their fall and then some.
