I'm not keen on this new 911. For some reason, whenever I see it from certain angles, I think of a Bentley Continental GT.

I'll not be replacing my 993 with one.

I'm CEO of the Sound, Noise and Vibration dept in my apartment (especially at weekends)... but according to my girlfriend, displacement has reduced (apparently its an age thing)...

I love my job... Performance is up from 6 minutes to 9, albeit endurance and range has suffered somewhat, she reckons I should trade in the Manual and go for the Paddle Activated auto with battery backup...... Am approaching 50 years in production and my future evolution may be fully outsourced ...she anticipates a rapid noise reduction with age ...... lap times are no longer measured.... and my Rear Main Seal is now showing signs of wear, with the odd infrequent leak...

I love the way the 991 looks... especially in Red.......

But if we did...

Of course they'll make one. Just like they'll make a Cup car as well. Too important a market not too.

In my opinion, if the 2012 Porsche 911 (991) will go on sale this December, in fact, I'll be so excited to see how beautifull is the new car.

The head-on front shot above reminded me of the original old Lotus Elite.

I guess Lotus were ahead of their time wink

I wonder if they've managed to fit a RMS that lasts longer than 5 minutes with this car. They couldn't get it right with the 996/997 for the last 13 years!!!!!!
Not exactly a big deal is it ? A small oil leak is pretty insignificant compared to the IMS, D-chunk and scored bores issues.

anyone else think it looks like a cross between a panarema and a 599?
it also has o some parts at the hight of the rear lights, a bit Porsche 928 and even (don't ask me why) Aston Martin in it...

Q: Dr. Bernhard Pfäfflin, is it fair to say you're the Director of Emotions when it comes to Porsche's new 991 Carrera?
A: It's not my official title; I am the General Manager of the Noise and Vibration Department at Porsche...

so perfectly german

Germans also seem to like to make things as close to "perfect" as is attainable. Not sure if this works because the Chinese and Japanese like to do this too, only when it comes to a lot of mechanical engineering they are no where as good as the Germans. But after a while their copies will follow. j

I think it looks great.

Quite tempted actually (having just got rid of a 997 due to baby arrival...)

Good time to buy a 997 in the next 6 months.

the rear end looks very much aston martin in the flesh..

I attended the same presentation and got a passenger ride round the track.... the car is mentally fast and superbly balanced in the corners.. IMHO, with the active roll control, they have taken the whole concept to a higher level.. th car is some 14 se faster round the ring than the 997 carrera S!
Also, during the "emotion" presentation there was a direct dig at BMW, when they said that all the noises in the new 991 (And it can be quite loud inside) are real mechanical noises, unlike what some competitors do.. smile

really don't like it at all, if you look at this picture it seems the lights, engine grille, bumper, 'porsche' decal are all taken from different places and sort of merged together, the classic porsche's looked as though they were carved from one piece of metal.

Maybe seeing the car in the flesh might change things though

Any chance of a special edition so we can have even more badges on the back? Ideally three lines of huge text would be good, just in case people didn't know what it was.
