Yep, I suspect anyone in the position to spend £500-700k on a show car, can stretch to owning a couple more usable 80s supercars.
Driving such machinery would be great. Parking anywhere would be less fun, coming back and finding dents would make me cry. I would have thought this is the problem with owning AND using such machinery.
My old man's not had many problems parking his places. We even go to the local supermarket in it occasionally (not Asdas )Driving such machinery would be great. WTF
How can so many people say that it's ugly? It's a fantastic bit of futuristic design.
Yes, the F40 is a beautiful thing but the build quality is truly awful as with pretty much all Ferraris.
The 959 is a showcase of engineering prowess, design, looks and ability from a time when the average petrolhead thought a Capri 280 was a beast and the XR3i was cutting edge.
Come on people. Be thankful that Porsche did it in the first place. It is the foremost example of modern vehicle engineering and how it can drive the entire market down a new direction. F40 yes but for me, 959 more.
Oh, and if the owner wants to drive it, not drive it, clean it or not clean it. That is up to them. It's called freedom. It's not sacrilege to wrap it in cotton wool just as it's also cool to use it to take the kids to school. Each to their own.
I'd not drive it. I'd buy another and use that every day, rain or shine. One for the garage and one for the road.

Because it's butt ugly thats why. It has far to much overhang at the back end for one, looks stupid. How can so many people say that it's ugly? It's a fantastic bit of futuristic design.
If you put it next to a F40, it looks pathetic IMO.
Each to there own, but i hate it.
You'd have 2? One to drive and one to have in the garage? Erm why. Cars are meant to be driven, hence why they have wheels.

I love the profile of my car.... and no it does not look at all pathetic next to an F40
Agree with your comment about driving them though....
Stunning, I love the 959, it's my favourite Porsche by an absolute mile, and I'd have one over it's rival, the F40, any day. The showroomer here though, should be saved as a museum piece, since it has so few miles and is in as-new condition. I agree with the sentiment that supercars should be driven, but as they become rarer and rarer, at least a few should be preserved, so that we have more than just videos, pictures in books and memories.
I think if the buyer of this 959 had wanted one to drive, he would have said "find me a 959 in fantastic running order", not "find me the best 959 on the planet".

Automotive art. I sort of understand why some people hate the Countach, I'm not one of them though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1983-Y-Lamborghini-Count...

I'm sorry, but anyone who "hates" a 959 is on the wrong website. Might I respectfully suggest an alternative outlet for their wisdom?
Much Safer
BURN HIM!
Oh and shame upon the author for even having the temerity to suggest vandalising this car into "Rothman's Livery" and r*lly*ng it! You may as well do this to it...
Memo to self - source dribble proof keyboard before visiting PistonHeads.
Deep breaths, deep breaths... deep breaths. Calmmmmmmmmmm

Seen the car in the flesh, and yes its a new car.
F40 V 959 debate is just silly.
F40 is awesome and iconic as is the 959, probably more so.
Whats interesting the f40 was 2 mph quicker or something but all the track tests etc the 959 was the quicker car.
What would be interesting was if they had both been driven from the late 80's to date, i wonder which wouldn't have dissolved and broken down everyday.............
