SM (Stuart?),
To my knowledge we never built such an animal. It sounds like it may be something built by Gordon Spooner (GSE), and was an RS2000 not a Cossie. He rallied that type of vehicle for Gwyndaf Evans and others.

I had a 4x4 RS2000. I remember it was on an M reg and ended WTW. Bought it at auction it had only done 2000 miles. Great car.

I own a White Escort RS Cosworth. I have had a lot of fast classic or fast modern cars. But every time I go in the garage and jump in this car it just feels like your about to take out a proper rally car. I know there not well put together and the drivers position isn't great etc etc. But it just has a certain spirit to it that most cars just don't have unless your spending upwards of 40k. Mine is running 400bhp but its not the power that makes it exciting as I have had an evo that was just as quick but the old fords have a certain magic to them that the jap cars or most german cars just don't have in this price range. I have had an M3 and it didn't make me want to drive it until the wheels fall off and with my cosworth they probably will.... I should sell it, I really should but everytime I take it out for one last run I just cant let it go.... I never had that with an evo, M3 or any other car that I can think of as most of them are just bits of metal. These old fords have a soul to them. Im happy to take any one out in my one and then we can discuss it afterwards

I had one for 14 years, had it from new and thinking back on it the only problem I had with it was a sensor went bad that made it run a little rough, apart from that it was totally reliable. Sold it 2 years ago with 96000 miles on it and it's still going strong with it's new owner.

I sold it because I didn't have enough space to keep it after getting an F430, even with a Ferrari in it's parking space I still miss it. Loved that car frown

Haha, just re-reading through this thread and here's my post from 2011 saying how i still missed it smile Very glad it's back home now smile

Evidently i couldnt remember how many miles was on it when I sold it, it actually went with 89000 odd smile

Wow.... F430 & you still missed your old Cossie? This is why the choice I am facing is so difficult, I am thinking about selling up both my Cossies for a 996 911 turbo, but somthing is niggling away at me to not do it..... frown

This has got me looking at the classifieds! None in that awesome blue colour above though... is it imperial blue?

One more question, were morettes an option? As so many seem to adopt them...

Morrettes were not a Ford part but as you say many have fitted them later.

Being objective, the F430 is no doubt a fabulous car, but it's not a Cosworth. There aren't many cars that can match a Ford Cosworth in the 'special' stakes, and it's hardly a slight against the F430 to fail to do that.

The 430 most definitely matches the specialness smile but in a very different way, having both in the garage is the perfect pairing, for once i'm completely content with cars smile

Awesome colour, and not just on a cossie.....;)

There's a guy local to me that has a blue one that's under wraps most of the year on his drive, uses it a couple of months in the summer then covers it up again, still a headturning car after all this time.

I saw a white Escort RS in Plymouth this weekend and the yearning I had as a seven year old returned instantly. I've been thinking about these cars on and off since.

Totally awesome styling, the 90s really were a treat for car fans.
