I know it's a top gear suggestion, but the Jag XJS aged well, and I think the XK (previous generation) is now ageing very well.
+1 from me. Truly beautiful car with a lovely soundtrack. But, in my opinion, you have to get the wheels right.
Oh, and they spelt the car's name wrong. They badged it jaguar, but they meant shaguar

Peugeot 406
The best looking family saloon of the last 20 years.
For a facelifted version of a 17 year old design it still looks fantastic. Consider its rivals at the time, Mondeo, Primera, Vectra, Laguna etc all of which show its age now but in my view the 406 looks just as modern as any new Eurobox you care to pick out.
primera and accords are way better, and just as fresh if treated rightThe best looking family saloon of the last 20 years.

Think GTV's still look pretty good.

I am a fan of German cars so naturally some beemers deserve a mention.
Whilst they are mostly acceptable, almost all BMWs reek of their time. The only exceptions I can think of are the 8 series, Z8, and maybe Z4C and E60 5 series.Edited by TheInternet on Friday 2nd December 23:26

yes that's goodOnly one on ebay when you type it in is £687.
BMW E39/5-Series? Handsome design, free of anything then seen as "fashionable". Instead, take proven saloon design of bonnet, boot and the bit in-between, add restrained amount of curves, beef up for appropriate models, chisel from granite, Gas Mark 6 for 40 mins and jobs a good's...

So far I agree with about a third of the suggestions in this thread. I suspect many of the rest may be the posters' own cars.

the prices have really shot up over the past few years as Rams has become more well known, think I paid £80 for mine (white / beech) a few years back, its a lovely thing, I think its the nicest piece he designed for Braun even more so than the SK.
I think I may have to agree with you there, the SK range compared to this are a little bulky. I could always post a image of the SK2 and see if it raises a few eyebrows to the iPod generation. Also while on product design, but still related to the thread. In a German class today we were doing household products and saying if they were modern or old as well. A image of the Artichoke light came up and everybody said modern. Made me chuckle seeing as that's mid-20th century Scandinavian...

Subjective topic, i know, but surely the Alfa 156 trumps a peugeot 406 to that claim?
M
I was waiting for someone to leap in with something from Alfa when i made that statement but ive just never liked Alfa's.M
One of them 406's is a V reg, so 2000 then. In 2000 this was Nissan's offering -
That looks like an 11 year old design. The 406 doesnt.
This is what Ford were churning out
Nice car, i liked the Mondeo very much but that looks a decade old - which it is.
Vauxhall were putting out this white good.
Another thing to consider is what you can actually buy now. Most mk2 Mondeo's are in shabby shape now with duck tape on the rear bumpers, most of the remaining Primera's have been thrashed to hell, i wouldnt fancy parting with cash for a V reg Vectra. But the 406 is a surprisingly well built car with decent sturdy engines which run to starship mileages with little trouble, paintwork and general bodywork has held up the best out of all of these cars and i could easily go out tomorrow and buy a 10 year old 406 because theres so many to choose from still.
