Why would you do this ? Well ! because I can ! design, construct, put my skills to the test , exercise my brain, hands and muscles and satisfy that strange creative urge that keeps me going day after day in this perpetually miserable world, the act of creating something different and/or unique is very satisfying to an engineer. Any fool can open his wallet and place a GT40 on the front drive, but where is the joy in that?. Keep it original ! are you joking, after owning nearly 200 different classic cars I think I know how to get the best "bang for the buck "

What's with the 8" of fresh air between the tyre and wheel arch?

Optical illusion or a result of how I parked it, but I would put money on the fact that if I had forgotten to vacuam out the ash-tray you would have commented on that fact. What is it with English motor enthusiasts the only thing you ever do is "knock-down" other peoples efforts and "belittle" your own heritage

I thought it would be rude to mention the ash-tray.

Steady on, I for one don't "knock down" other people's efforts or for that matter "belittle" our own heritage.. and I'm definitely an English motor enthusist. The fact that you boys over the water only know how to build cars that go quickly in a straight line doesn't stop me admiring your efforts either wink

I think there should be more of this sort of stuff, personally. If its all knackered underneath, stick a new, modern drivetrain/suspension/brakes in and keeping it on the same original V5 you can take advantage of modern 'go' coupled with classic 'feel' and 'looks'.

the price. i think that's all most people have against it.

Ginatta can build a car with the same drivetrain for £20k less...

And the goggle-eyed Mini lights. Never liked them on the Aero8 and don't like them on this MGB...

I forgot to remind Shoestring 7 that in the USA the MGB is designed to run at a higher wheel arch clearance to comply with fed -regs on bumper hieght , take a look at the this roadster ride hieght. After a while you get used to seeing that and it starts to look normal .Also we have an abundance of dirt roads and flash flood gullys so a bit of extra clearance does not go amiss !

BMW MINI lights? They seem to blend in quite well. I take it a lot of effort went into making them fit.

yes

Surely for the "Sebring Look", one of the defining characteristics is the standard faired-in headlights?

In reply to kiteless you should be aware that covered/faired headlamps have been illegal in both the USA and the EU for many years, remember the series 1 Jaguar Etype had to drop the glass covers before the series 2 could meet FED regs and be signed off for sale in both these markets .Fitting mini h/lamps was a very cost effective legal way of up grading the lighting on this very fast car. It was not easy but it was very benificial and well worth the effort. Sometimes function takes priority over appearance and who said anything about "Sebring look" that is only a starting point to allow further expression of individual endevours, I dont want my car to look like all the others

Don't know about the US but in Europe TVR managed to sell plenty of Griffiths with faired in headlamps in the 1990s.

Reply to RichB, I know you are right because I was workshop manager for the German TVR importer in Hanau, Frankfurt,Main in the late 70's. we could only sell 2500m and Taimar models with lucas 7" lens. the German TUV inspecters gave us a very "tuff time" It was a real nightmare getting approval for anything not made in GERMANY.The only other way was to cheat, sell the car with the H/L covers in the door pocket and let the purchaser fit them at home, still illegal but where there is a will there is a way!!

How about this MGBGT for an alternative, no crazy rabbits eye's only a thumping great Chevy 3.4 litre V6 engine and long legged 5 speed O/drive tranny Ideal laid back high speed freeway cruiser to explore the country side at our mandatory national speed limit of 55MPH which really slows down the economy you know !!
